I found out I was having twins when i was 8 weeks pregnant. We did not have the Down Syndrome screening done during pregnancy. At about 30 weeks, during my ultrasound, the doctor was concerned about the difference in their size. We didn't really think much of it, because after several ultrasounds, they were both growing. I delivered at 33 weeks because the umbilical cord to the smaller baby was getting too restricted. They were both put in the NICU. Four days after they were born, we found out they both had heart issues, but the smaller baby would require surgery. Six days after they were born, we were told that he had Down Syndrome. I was just wondering if there is anyone out there that has a similar situation. My boys are 19 months old and their development is very different. But I am curious about when they get to be school age and beyond how they will interact and how much they will be able to stay together.

Hello. I am so glad I found your post. I have twin girls that are 9 years old. One of them has down syndrome and we also found out at birth. I would love to give you any insight I can and hear yours as well. I live in Austin, Texas and I know a few other Moms in our situation living here.
