In matching car seats, with matching blankets & matching hats at the grocery store:
For the 500th time the cashier asks:
"Are they twins?"
Me:
"Nope. We had that one and when we were walking out of the hospital we saw that one sitting by the door in a matching car seat and decided, why not and picked him up."
Cashier:
"That was stupid question wasn't it?"
Me:
"Nooooo you were just the lucky one on whom I snapped. Sorry."

Okay, I haven't even had my twins yet, and I already get annoying questions.
A customer came into where I work and asked me when I was due. When I told her, she's like "Wow! You're huge! Are you sure you aren't having twins???" Well, did I ever SAY I wasn't having twins? I honestly don't mind when people say I'm huge because I have a good excuse, but the way she assumed that was kind of annoying. lol

Then we got a new guy at work who overheard me talking to someone about the 2 babies I'm carrying around. He comes up to me and says, "Wow! 2 babies! Are they twins?!?!" ...Really? It didn't help that I was in a really bad mood that day cause I answered with "Are you STUPID?!"

So yeah, not looking forward to strangers coming up to my boys after they're born. I don't know if I can handle anymore stupid questions. Although, I'm hoping the hormone level will go down so I can respond a little bit nicer.

My girls are 10 now. I have 4 major pet peeve comments 1) When they were babies, the stupid comment that drove me batty was when people would tell me that they knew exactly what it was like to have twins because they have kids that are a year apart! I was so tired of hearing that one that I just started laying out all of the differences and why it just wasn't the same! I wasn't even nice. 2) "Who's older?" (Still get this one today!) Response: No one. They're the same. That's why their twins! What i want to say: Why does it matter to you? It's none of your business! 3) "Do you care if I just call you twin because I can't figure out which one you are." Girls' response: sure. What we all want to say: How rude are you that I'm not important enough to you for you to learn who I am! 4) The ones that are going to argue with you about the differences between fraternal and identical as if you,the parent of the twins, have no clue how your kids came to be.

Yep...gotta love the "are they twins?" question. Classic

I have 8 month old girls who do not leave the house without bows on. Yet I still get the questions "are they girls?" or "a boy & a girl?" SO annoying. Clearly...they are wearing pink and have pink bows on their head. YES they are girls!!! sheesh

Good to know you all are going through this too. My husband & I have learned to laugh it off, but it still gets annoying sometimes!

My best story is this one: (I have b/g twins who are now almost 3 at the time of this story though they were very little still)

Women: "are they twins"
ME: *big grin* "Yes they are"
Women: but one has red hair and one has brown"
Me: *looking confused* "umm yeah...? this ones a girl and this ones a boy"
Women: "oh I can tell that but I just did not know twins could come with different color hair"
ME: *jaw on the floor and trying to not laugh in the womens face*

Are they twins? is the most common one...mine are fraternal- one has straight hair n the other curly, look very different..and I get asked how can you tell them apart? " Ummm, they look very different"...so like everyone I say we all get those questions...it's just part of being a twin's mommy... :)

Lol - yes seriously the most annoying question is 'Are they twins?' No, I just had one baby and kidnapped another the same age from the nursery at the hospital. Sheesh!!!!

I haven't had my twin girls yet, but from I announced my twin pregnancy, I have said they are identical twins



Before we knew sex, the amount of people that would say "I think it's a boy and a girl" Really?? How many identical twins do you know that are a boy and a girl!!

I have twin boys which are not identical but they are dressed the same when I go out.

I have been asked if I have a boy and a girl (although they are both dressed in hoddie and dungarees and trainers!!!!

I have been asked if I have ever fed the same baby twice and not realised!!!!

And the main one if get which i am sure everyone with twins has is "are they twins"

I have 3yr old fraternal triplets they are all so different... one boy & two girls, I have been asked every question under the sun, I can't even remember how many times people asked me are they identical.... natural or no.... but the best by far was are they triplets, so they all come from the same family, oh no on is from the family next door...

HAHAHA I love these! Its so funny, I get the same things! I am glad I am not the only one to get fed up with people asking me "Are they Twins?" They look the same, wear the same clothes and are in the same cart...hmmm... lol I really dont mind the "you've got your hands full" because yea, I do. "I don't like the I am sorry! I am glad its you and not me!" I tell them that twins are alot of work, but soooo much fun!" they just look at me like I'm crazy. I need to start saying silly things like Chantale Cole! ^ One I thought was really funny though, was a little boy who came up to my kids and looked at one, then the other and back again, and said "WOW! You two have the same face!" LOL I laughed so hard!

Haha! I hate are they twins? They will even ask that after the have been looking at them for 5 min and can clearly see ther are the same age and look exactly the same. I don't get the identical/fraternal question unless the person is a twin or related to a twin.

I hate that "are you done" question then when I say " No I would like another set of twins" people give this crazy look. Sometimes just to be funny I say " No, I'm not done I'm just getting started I would like 5 or 6 more kids". Then people really look dumb founded!

I hate it when people ask/comment "Your done having kids,Right?" obviously asuming you would never even be thinking of such a thing because somehow having twins should be so awful you must never think of having another one. I always get the are they boys or girls? well if you would actually look that one is in a pink carseat and saturated in pink from head to toe and the other dressed in camo or blue in a brown carseat you might see there is a boy and a girl. I guess all you can do is laugh :)

I cannot stand the question "are they twins?" its so annoying! at first i didn't care, then after a month it was annoying. I hate having people I don't know come up and ask me that question then say "you must be brave". Seriously, uggh. and then theres the "it must be so hard", "boy, girl?" umm ya my girls! are dressed all in pink and purple and i get that question a lot, they even have bows in their hair.

Simple! I have boys twins that are 2 with curly hair. People ask are they boys or girls. In my mind I'm like " Duh, why would girls where jeans, boots and a polo shirt". Come on folks!

I have 2 year old twins from the help of IVF and they are my only children. But the question I always got was "do you think it's harder raising twins than just one child". That annoyed me so much!

I have a 6 yr old, 4 yr old and the twins are 7 months. The line I have heard AT LEAST 100 times is "wow, you have your hands full". Yes, my hands, my car, my house...... "Are they both girls? " Nope, I always put headbands, bows and dresses on my boys. (as has been said) "are they natural?" nope, robots actually... "how big did you get?" how big did you get after pigging out over the holidays?

When asked if my Boy/Girl twins were identical...

Stranger- "Are they Twins?"

Me- "Yes"

Stranger- "Are they identical?"

Me- "No, one is a boy and one is a girl."

Stranger- "but how do you know they are not identical?"

Me- "Because one is a boy and one is a girl!!!"

Stranger- "Well besides that how do you know?"

Me- "Well one has a penis, and one has a vagina.. Pretty sure they are not identical!"



Another one of my favourite was to tell people when they asked if they were twins to say " NO, this one is mine and that one is my Husband's girlfriends!"



Might be a bit cruel but I have two kids who are about to blow if I don't get the hell out of Walmart ASAP!!

"better you than me." Well I guess so, if that's your attitude!

"what made you decide to have twins?" I was asked this once..."I didn't decide to, God decided I needed twins and here they are.

"Were they natural?" Nope, all plastic and sylicone.

My least favorite thing, is not a comment at all. It's when people take pictures of them. Last summer, when my twins (now 1) were babies, we woudl put them back to back in those bucket swings at the park...and people would stop and take pictures!!!! I would ask people to delete them, it's just so inappropriate to take pics of someone elses kids.



What ticks me off the most though, is when a mother comes up to and says "I know what it's like, I had twins too." Well, if you've had twins, then you should sure as hell know I've been stopped enough for twin comments and that the last thing i need is ONE MORE STOP talking about my twins!!! Gah!!!! ("I will NOT be that mom, I will NOT be that mom!")

Oh I also have had someone ask "Is it just awful having twins?" I guess this is in someway asking if it is hard to have twins but awfull is not the term to use,LOL.

I had someone ask me if I payed extra to have them( A Dr. I guess?) put in a girl and a boy. The person somehow assumed IVF(mine were a natural suprise!) and then went on about how all the celebreties do that. My babies look so different one has hair the other is bald one looks very feminine and one masculine but people ask me if I can tell them apart lol. I just laugh at peoples comment now I think I was more irritated by peoples comments while I was pregnant. I am a nurse and all I heard during my twin pregnancy was the worse case scenario comments of twin birth and complications and that drove me crazy. People telling me of their cousins mom who had twins and everyones assumptions that ALL twins are born preemie and stay in the NICU. I knew it was possible but so fed up of everyone telling me about all the not so great stories. In the end everything went great and I had healthy term babies and everyone was suprised.

I loved your questions. I have been asked all of those questions at least once. My favorite has to probably be... are they twins? Really? How many babies do you see in the same kind of carseat, that are close in size, and wearing the same outfit that aren't twins? lol.
