Hernia after pregnancy with twins

I had a hernia after carrying my son. I still have it and im pregnant with my second child. :-) Talk to ur dr first.

Well, ask your OB. I had a small Umbilical hernia after pregnancy that developed after my first child. I had it flare up several times and cause severe pain, but when I would go to have it checked it would pop back in and no one wanted to fix it. So I lived with it. Then I got pregnant with my twins and at 9 weeks it flared up with severe pain again. This time it was really getting stuck and yet they really wanted to wait til I was in my 2nd trimester before touching it. Thank heaven it subsided after several days and I knew the plan if it started again. As luck had it, it started again when I was 19 weeks and this time it was stuck (slightly incarcerated) and they decided that they needed to do the surgery now so that it wouldnt cause bigger trouble at 25 weeks. So I went to the Operating Room and had a local sedation and they went through my belly button to fix it. Because of my growing uterus, they were unable to use mesh. So, if it should ever Pop out again, I will use mesh if need be. But it held up through the entire rest of my pregnancy without any issues. Both babies and me weathered the drama nicely and all is well today. So, dont stress it. If it requires fixing, they will do what is best. Having surgery was my only option with the way it presented itself. But had it not flared up that second time, I would have left it alone. Good luck.

Hi I Had Twins about 2 yrs ago and the got pregnant with a sinleton afterwards and found out I had a Umbliacil Hernia after I fell over at christmas last year It was via a ultrasound asI fell on my belly and I had no complications at all durring the pregnancy... It was fixed after I had her via a c-section in april this year

Hey! I know what you're thinking - is there going to be anything "falling out"? No. I got an umbilical hernia after my pregnancy with my now 4 yr old. Then I got pregnant with my now 20 month old twins. My hernia did not get any bigger or cause any problems. However, they thought that they could just stitch it up after they were done delivering my twins by c-section, but my muscles were not "stretchy" enough to do that. So...I have to go back in and have them put in mesh which is permanent (another 6 week recovery). So I'm living with my belly button sticking out and I'll get it fixed when I'm dead! I would not let it scare you off from having another child though, cause I'm considering at least one more!!! Plus I'm not getting mine fixed until I know for sure that I'm done having kids - then I can work on that six pack that I've never had!!!! Good luck!
