How did you find out you were having twins? Was it from and ultra-sound or did you just have a feeling that you were when you found out you were pregnant?

When I found out I was pregnant, it seemed like most people responded with a joking "what if it's twins!" I started to sort of fantasize about the idea and decided it would be perfect-I wanted more than 2 kids (already have a 5 year old) but I'm 38, so I knew this would probably be my last pregnancy. At my first OB appt at 10 weeks, she did an ultrasound, and I saw 2 black spots on the screen. I hadn't really put it together yet when the Dr said, "well, there's at least 2 in there." It was wonderful and exciting and a little weird. Like someone else said, it's like thinking about winning the lottery, and then it's really happening! When I first saw them at the level II u/s later that day, I knew it was a boy and a girl, and I was right. I'm 27 weeks along, (nearly the same size waist as when I delivered my son on exactly his due date) and I'm so excited for my little ones to arrive!

My situation was a little of both. I was growing faster than I did with my son. At 7 weeks, an U/S confirmed my suspicions. What I didn't expect was the fact that they were identical. LOL

the moment i took the at home pregnancy test before the pee could even get to the second box it showed i was pregnant, with my son it took the full 3 minutes, so i kinda felt i was having twins but wasnt sure till 4 weeks later when i went into urgent care for having pelvic pain and they did both internal and external ultrasounds and found the bigger twin hiding behind the smaller twin. i was SO shocked.

i stopped taking the pill on 1st october, by 1st november, my boobs had become sore, and i was moody (so says my husband), and i was late. so took a pregnancy test that showed positive within seconds. went to the doctor, so she could verify it. she felt my tummy and said that my uterus was quite large so early in the pregnancy, so made an appointment the following week for a scan. the tech scanned for a while, turned the screen and asked me what i could see, i said two black blobs, he said yes, that means there's more than one but less than 3!!! it took a while and then the penny dropped for me. the only thing my husband said at the time was "F** me!" first thing we did when we left was called our parents. the kids will be 4 in june, but i can still remember those two "blobs" on the screen. how they have grown ...

My husband was serving overseas and came home for 2 weeks (break) and that's when we tried to get pregnant again. It worked...double! :) I took a home pregnancy test the day he was leaving to go back and it was possitive. We were happy to get pregnant quickly again. After that, I kept dreaming that I was having twins and was always having these weird feelings of having twins. When he would get a chance to call me I told him about this. When my Dr. listned for the heartbeat the first time, I asked her if there was only one or two. She said one. For some reason,...that just seemed weird to me. At 16 weeks when she was listening to for the heartbeat again...we heard it on my right side and then she moved over to the left to see if she could hear it better and there it was...OF course she told me the baby moved but I had felt NOTHING move! I asked her again about twins almost joking. It was only at my 18 week ultrasound that I found out I was having fraternal twin boys. My father's mother was a fraternal twin. I didn't know this till I told my parents I was having twins. My grandmother died before my parents were married so we never really talked about her and my dad had never mentionned she was a twin.

My second pregnancy was so different than my first. Twins run in my family and by 7 or 8 weeks I suspected twins.; I was just looking really big. At my 12 week appt, I told my Dr. "please tell me I am not having twins". She said nope. By my 17th week appt, she was looking for the heartbeat and she went to the right and then to the left, and I thought I heard 2 different rhythms. I was scheduled for my 20 week ultrasound but my Dr. said, to do one now to be sure everything is okay. Sure enough, Twins! I cried in fear. However, Alex and Rachel just turned 2 today and I can't be more happier they are in my life.

The day before my THIRD ultrasound to find out if it was A girl or boy, I was in the shower thinking...what if I had twins. Sure enough, we go in to find out if it's a girl or boy and it's BOTH! :) It was definitely a surprise, especially since the other 2 ultrasounds showed just one baby!

I have a 7and a half year old girl, a 6 year old boy and 2 and a half year old twins (boy and girl). I always wanted 2 boys and 2 girls but never thought I'd have twins! My mother-in-law thought I was pregnant with twins from about the start. My sister-in-law had 2-3 dreams (one before I was even pregnant) that we were having twins!! But I went into the ultrasound 100% sure I wasn't having twins!! I was 20 weeks along by this time. The two heads showed up on the ultrasound immediately and we knew our lives were going to change even more so than we thought. My husband does have fraternal twin nephews and twin cousins. I have fraternal twin nieces (but my sister is adopted) and I also had twin cousins. But it was a shock!!! Our daughter wanted a sister and our son wanted a brother so God blessed us with both!! They are so much fun to watch and they (all 4 kids) are a a joy in our lives.

I have difficult pregnancies and we didn't know how many times I'd be able to do it so my husband and I spent a year praying for twins and we got them! We had an ultrasound at 10 weeks and I wasn't even a little surprised, my husband says he was surprised in the same way you are on Christmas morning when you ask for something really big and you think you might get it but you know it's a longshot and then you open it up and there it is!

I knew I was pregnant with a home test at 4 weeks, but at 7 weeks I went to my OB because because the morning sickness was unbearable - when at that time he did an ultrasound and let us know we were having twins. It was a tremendous shock, but now my boy/girl are turning 3 years old in 1 week and I feel so very blessed.

It was my first pregnancy, I was 11 weeks along when I saw the doctor. He told me I was bigger than he thought I should be for 11 weeks. 2 weeks later sent me for an ultra sound and there were twins on the screen. I almost cried and my husband was shocked. It was news that took some adjusting to in our "game plan" but they are now 16 months old and I wouldn't change it if I could.

She asked if i could be prego, i said we have been trying for about 2 1/2 months. So she did pregnancey test. She said Ellen, when was the last time you took a test, i said yesterday. She said well you are prego. She made a U/S appointment the next week to see how far along i was. I was 8 weeks with twins. Thankfully my husband was with me, because i almost fell of the table. :)

Forgot to mention..I was a week over due. One wreighed 7lbs and 1 oz. The other weighed 7lbs. and 11 oz. They are 1 hour and 15 minutes apart (11:00am and 12:15pm). Luckily the same day. My second one was breech but the doctors let him turn around. That' s what took so long. They are 6'3" now and size 13 shoe.

I was taken to emergency at 3 months when I began spotting. I thought I was threatening a miscarriage. The nurse did an ultrasound but appeared to be unsure of what she was seeing. She had three other techs come in the room and look. I was fearing the worst when she said, "Guess what?" I did't know what to think so I just looked at her and then without saying another word she just held up two fingers. I screamed so loud. I started laughing hysterically then I burst into tears. The nurses and techs were asking me what was wrong. I said, "I'm laughing because I'm happy but I'm crying when I think of how much money we are going to have to spend on diapers!" That was 21 years ago come June 20 (double Geminis). I have identical sons who are working and in college with pretty good heads on their shoulders. When they were born, my daughter was 21 months. It was like having tripletts. It was hard but I wouldn't change nothing for the world.

I didn't know I was having twins until I was 35 weeks and in early labor. When the doctors realized it was twins, they stopped the labor and hoped I would wait a couple of weeks. Little did I realize they would still be born on their due date! They were perfect little girls, one 6 lbs, and one 6.5 lbs.

I had a dream that we were pregnant with twins about 3 weeks before we found we were pregnant. We had a 6 month old and 2 year old at the time, so my cylces hadn't started yet. My husband laughed and told me not to joke. 3 weeks later I began to feel ill and took the test, which was very positive. I looked at my husband and said "you don't think?" and he was positive I was wrong.
We saw the Dr and she recommended we wait a month before we ultrasound because my uterus felt small...between 4-6 weeks along. A month later we went to date the pregnancy via ultrasound and found there were two and that I was 12 weeks along. It was a silent ultrasound because we were in shock. They told us they were identical and that we needed to see a high risk Dr. because there was no dividing membrane. It turned out they were mono mono babies. They are 10 months now.

I went in for my first prenatal appointment and told the doctor I seemed to be "popping out" so much faster. She told me that was normal for my 3rd pregnancy. I said, I don't know, I actually gained 20 lbs less with my 2nd pregnancy than my 1st so it doesn't seem normal to me. I was measuring maybe a week or two ahead so to humor me, she sent me for an ultrasound. At 11 weeks I found out I was right. I was so shocked and my husband asked why I was so surprised when I was the only one who actually thought I might be having twins. I said, I thought I was having twins in the way you "think" you're going to win Powerball. Fun to think about but not very likely to happen :) Glad my doctor humored me, I would have spent the next 7 weeks beating myself up for getting so big until my 18 wk ultrasound. Plus we were buying a new car and it probably wouldn't have been appropriate for our size family. It's certainly a day you'll never forget!!!

I went in for my first appointment and was like "is there any way to rule out twins for sure, my husband has them in his family and boy wouldnt that be a kick in the ass right now" (we found out we were pregnant again 2 days before our youngest turned 1...!) lucky (??) for us, they couldnt hear a heartbeat cuz it was too early (only 10 weeks) so they pulled out the ultrasound just to be sure things were going ok, and poof there they were!!!

I told him he was silly and I was only have 1 baby. He always told me I had 2 babies in there. I went the the doctor when I was 14 weeks pregnant and I was measuring 18 weeks and asked me if I was sure when I got pregnant, and I assured her I knew. Then I jokingly said you know my grandma says twins run in the family. So she took me to the US room and started the US and she said OMG, I thought something was wrong. I said what is it, she said you ARE having twins!!! And I cried.......

We used clomid (a drug to increase ovulation) and TIC. When I went in for the pre-ovulation ultrasound, there were 2 ripe eggs, and about 5 ovum that were too small. 10 days later I had a positive pregnancy test. My husband and I went on a 'baby moon' to calm our jitters before the confirmation ultrasound (we'd miscarried the previous go round). The day we left, morning sickness hit hard and I barfed every meal for the week. So I had a clue that there were 2 babies and not one. We got the pregnancy (and twins) confirmed by ultrasound at 6 weeks. For the record, I never measured larger than normal. I'm a big girl, so I didn't really show until the end (and I was on bed rest, so nobody ever really saw me pregnant- some of my coworkers say I made it up!)

answered. Then they brought 2 other Drs. in to check, cause they thought they seen a 3rd...By the time they came to the conclusion it was only 2, thats when they finally answered my question with "Do TWINS run in your Family"...I said yes, & just started crying on the table. Felt so Blessed.

We turned to a fertility clinic when we couldn't conceive for 9 months. When we got pregnant after 4 months of consultation there - wouldn't call it treatment 'cause all it took was one round of a fertility drug called Clomid - we got pregnant and went at six weeks for a followup ultrasound. While there the technician asked us if it was a fertility treatment pregnancy and we said, "yes, why?" and then she showed us - two amniotic sacs! Within days the nausea was overwhelming. This was my 5th pregnancy and the worse. Then I took an early pregnancy test that immediately turned positive. Usually takes me 1-2 weeks after the expected period to turn positive. I was either expecting twins or another boy. My 8 week ultrasound came and the doctor only found one. I was kinda surprised. I had to beg the doctor for Zofran because I could not take care of my kids I was so nauseated. This is the first time I ever lost weight being pregnant.

Than Thanksgiving came and I was about 16 weeks along. My belly was just sticking out of my shirts. I did get that feeling that we were expecting a little more than normal. 18 week ultrasound came and the tech looked around in there and then remarked, "have you had twins before?" I was in shock. Just laughed at her. We had just been given a Suburban and with 4 kids and twins on the way we actually felt great knowing that we would have a seat for everyone without having to buy a new van this time around. The absolutely shocking part is that they were IDENTICAL. With PCOS I was supposed to have fraternal. Let's just say that there will not be a number 7 or 8. We love all 6 of our children.
