Good Lord - we are all doomed - it doesn't get better and there isn't anything we can do outside of surgery... so not the answer I was hoping to read in these posts :o( ... and there is no magic peal for weight loss.....well - we are all in it together :o)

Urgh, the belly of jelly and stretch marks. Gross. And unfortunatly, I too was told that a tummy tuck is my only option. Only i'm stretched out so badly, I mean, from hips to knees and everywhere in between, that a tummy tuck wont get rid of all my stretch marks. It will tighten a bit of my flab but i'm stamped forever. And a damn good stamp too! I wouldnt change it for anything! Spanx have become my new best friends!!! Although I hate the flab, and all the stretch marks that will keep me from wearing anything above my knees for the rest of my life, I'd do again in a heart beat! My boys are the best thing that have ever ahppened to me!

Girl I definitely know what you mean. I have twin boys that will be 3 years old in August. I have lost alot of weight since I had them and am almost the same size I was before I had them. But I still have a little pouch at the front. Dont't worry though. It goes down slowly in time. What I have been doing for the past few weeks is alot of walking. Sometimes I get on the treadmill with a sauna belt and wear saran wrap around my midsection. I have also been combining the cardio with crunches and pushups as well as a little strenght training. And it has been doing wonders for me. I also like to work out not just for appearance but for my health and how it makes me feel. So girl all in all you just gotta work at it I guess. But I also realize I will probably never have a flat tummy again. So what. As long as we look good right?? Take care.

Sorry to say my twins are 6yrs old. I still have a little baby pouch. I hate it. I lost all the pregancy weight. I have been told that an extreme amount of crunches, abdominal work or surgery is the only thing that will get rid of the baby pouch. As for now Im trying the extreme amount of crunches. No tummy tuck in my finanical future.

My twins are 4 and I still have the loose skin - eeek! I'm not so sure if ab exercises can get rid of that. Once I checked out the cost of a tummy tuck on the internet, and it is one of the most expensive plastic surgeries to have done. That was depressing. They say if you get it done at the same time as your c-section, the cost is lower. A friend of mine did that. Oh well, my husband doesn't care, just me.

I still have my twin pooch (they are 9 months), but my 5 year old keeps telling me I need to exercise. I've decided to get my drooping boobs fixed to work as a distraction! I feel very guilty for this, I really hope it works!

My twins are 4 now & I had a bit of that loose skin, but could deal with it. It was after my now 1 yr old daughter that it seems worse & won't go away! I do find that pilates helps some. It strengthens the whole core, so if nothing else makes me feel better! As my pilates instructor put it, it's like blowing up a balloon - the skin will never go back to what it was!

IT'S THERE FOR LIFE. I have done plenty research on this matter. Especially if you had a c-section the muscles were cut apart and it's next to impossible to repair that. The only solution would be a tummy tuck. Trust me I have searched and searched for the answer and i can't find it. Even women who had twins and have been super active for up to 15 years can not get rid of it.

My twins are now 14 (6.8 lbs and 6.11 lbs at birth) and I couldn't stand my "twin skin" anymore. I am turning 40 this year and so last summer I treated myself to a tummy tuck. It was the most self-esteem boosting thing I have ever done in my life. I now have back the flat tummy I had before my three kids. I am an avid gym hound, and eat relatively well, I have always carried about an extra 20 lbs, I have just learned to live with it. My husband likes me a little heavier than when we married anyway. Once the skin is streched beyond recognition, it can't go back. I realize that cosmetic surgery is not for everyone, and I certainly couldn't afford it back when my kids were small, but it is a wonderful thing for the right person.

I just went in here to see what other moms are saying and it seems that we are all in the same boat. My boys are 20 months and I have 10 more lbs to go. I work full time and when I go home at night I feel like its a part time job lol - dinner, clean up, baths, play time & bed time! I don't have the energy to work out but I do eat right and now that the weather is getting nicer I'll be walking more again. For me, its really hard and I'm very self concious of my little pouch! I can't seem to get used to my "new" body shape & everything sags lol! My boys sure are worth it though!

Sorry can't help with the belly thing! I just saw the photo of your girls and had to say how CUTE their hairdos are!

But I spose I'm on the subject .. My girls are now 6mths old, and I got back to pre-preg weight ok (then put back on 2kilos - oops) but had measured before pregnancy and don't know where the weight was lost from (still breastfeeding so still got my nice front which I will lose totally when I stop!) but every measurement is still bigger than before (esp tummy!) Aparently genes decide whether you escape stretch marks so maybe its the same for the pouch. I have seen plently of skinny looking mums taking their kids to school so there must be hope! (you notice these things when you're 9mths pregnant & whale-like!)

Not very worried about my tummy at this stage though - being a single mum I've got much more stuff to worry about like being a good role-model.

Though in the right light and sucking it in I can pretend I still have a nice belly! Maybe reality will kick in someday...

I know what you mean! I was on hospital bedrest from 19 weeks until I gave birth at 34 weeks. I was so nervous about losing the babies that I laid on my left side only (if I shifted to my right side I would get a ton of contractions). Now my left side of my belly has some stretch marks and it hangs down a bit and my right side is stretch mark free and is tight like it used to be. Luckily I only gained 21 lbs during my pregnancy (my kids were 4lbs 5oz and 4lbs 4oz), but I was so large that I took up an entire doorway when I turned sideways!! I was back in my old jeans after two weeks, but this pooch isn't going anywhere!

Sadly, I will join the "can't lose it" bandwagon. I was hoping you all would give me hope too! I would like to lose another 10, but the pouch is still there. My doctor did say it was possible, mostly with exercise she said. Probably cardio and ab work. Which of us has time for all that!!!!

I too have that little "pot" belly all the weight is gone it was after 6 weeks, I have NO strecth marks, but I do have loose skin I HATE IT I always had super abs and now I cannot seem to get them back. So I guess surgery seems to be the only way, BUT why dont they give that to moms of multiples for FREE it's not like they dont know what it does to our bodies????

I have 7 month twins and it's still there.  I gained 30 lbs in pregnancy, have lost that and also an additional 15 pounds.  I consulted a doctor and he pretty much gave me the bad news too that surgery was the only way to get rid of it.  Pretty much the same answer I've gotten from other mommies too.

I have 22 month old boy / girl twins and like most of the ladies that have posted on here I too have saggy bits everywhere. I guess if i had the money and was brave enough I would go for complete body reconstruction surgery!! but for now I am trying to loose the baby weight still and will be buying control undies/ swim wear and concreate knickers from now on.

The price of having happy healthy twins! - yes I would do it all the same way if I had to do it again ( which I won't EVER!!)    :0)

I read somewhere that crunches only tone the muscle underneath but will do nothing to wittle away the fat. Cardio is supposed to be a great fat burner, so I got a treadmill (now if only I could motivate myself to use it) in hopes that it will get rid of some of my spare tire. I'm just worried that I'll have excess skin on top of it all. :(

what helps hide the pooch but is kind of embarassing...those undies that have the support and go all the way up to your boobs. i bought a pair to test them out and now i wear them everywhere! even just around the house...they keep me feeling tight and my belly doesn't hang over my pants, even though with my pooch underneath i feel like it makes me look about 3 months pregnant. when i take it off i feel like my whole belly is flopping around in front of me ! haha it is an embarassing thing to wear but it makes me feel a little bit better (and in shape)

The saggy skin is pretty much going to be there unless it's surgically altered. I have an 8 1/2 yr. old daughtwr and identical twin boys that will be 7 in April. I still have the evidence of my pregnancy with them! I too exercise almost daily and even coach Cheerleading. That hasn't done a thing! Those muscles and the skin just go through SOOOOO much stretching that it just can't regain it's original form. Especially if you had a c-section. So, likeeveryone has said, it's a reminder of the precious treasure that we carry. However, if you are self-conscious about it then your next doctor appointment will have to be with a plastic surgeon. Sorry  : -)

This is very discouraging since I don't know many people with twins that can now afford a tummy tuck! I've so self conscious of mine (8 month old twin girls :o) and sometimes get asked when I'm expecting!! Agh! It's definitely all worth it and I'd do it again but there just has to be something out there that we can all do, minus the surgery! I never thought I'd end up this vain (I used to be a size 0-1 and after putting on 50+ lbs. with the twins, still have an extra 25 or so lbs. tacked on, plus the saggy boobs and belly pouch) I'm not even 30 yet and look like I've fallen apart!! Everyone says to give it time since it took 9 months to get this way in the first place but it looks like I'm stuck with the belly forever!! I guess it's a badge of honor we all get to have! :o)

you know, i have a four year old and my twins are barely over two years now. i am three months pregnant with my fourth and the "belly" thing is bothering me more than it ever used to. i lost all of my weight like everyone else, but the pouch...well, it's a battle wound to say the least. with this new pregnancy it seems a lot more obvious and it does make me more self conscience. i want to have my fifth like right after my fourth and then be able to say i am done with the kids and try to focus on that area more. in the meantime, just try to love yourself and see what you have accomplished. how many other people have had the golden twin moments that we share from their infancy and on? how many people would take that pouch to see the blessings we see? it's just a body and few people will ever see what you see. most people just comment on how awesome you look "despite your twins" try to love yourself a little more, just the way you are...

I believe what you all are refering to is "twin skin"!  I hate mine.  My boys are a little over 2 years.  I weigh less now than I did when they were concieved.  My Dr told me the only way to get rid of it was surgery.  They will stich your muscles back together, do a little lipo around the edges and remove the extra skin.  He said the scar is horrible, hip to hip.  I'm prett sure I wouldn't mind.  I hate the way it looks and that some of it hangs over your pants.  I'd do it again if it meant healthy babies.  It certainly does make it more difficult to feel good about your body no matter how many amazing things it can do!

But I couldn't see it..here I am now 30lbs heavier and wish I was back to that weight..because I look at pictures and say to myself what was I thinking..I was not fat..it was just the excess skin..I am losing the weight and I will now be happy to get back to where I was and I won't complain about the pooch anymore..I will deal or have a tummy tuck LOL.

It might be unless you have surgery. I have almost 3 year old twins (February 28th). I have lost ALL my pregnancy weight and did so with in 15 months of them being born. I work out at least 3 times a week and I eat right. I still have excess skin and it bothers me all the time. I have tried everything and it will not go away. Were my kids worth it? Absolutely!
