How has having a baby impacted on your relationship with your partner?

Having a baby is pretty demanding so I was just wondering what it's like for other couples. We have had our babies 10 months apart and then when our youngest was only a few months old we decided to move (to an Island!) and to top if off our 16 month still cannot sleep by himself. But having said that I love my children so much and couldn't live without them. But it's been a hard slog especially the last 6 months, my partner and I have at times just felt like leaving but it's getting better. Just wanting to know other peoples stories (to make me feel better lol...)

My husband and I had are issues when our third child came. We both really wanted to stick with our relationship and went to counseling. We went to individual and couple counseling. It really helped us work out our issues. Sometimes you get stuck in a rut and you need a non-biased point of view, advise, whatever.

If you really want to stay in your relationship work on it. Otherwise, let it go.

We have our fourth child and it's been about 4 yrs or so since we had our counseling. By the way, we still have our issues, but we learned how to fight without hurting each other and we learned other skills to help our relationship. Remember it's a roller coaster ride and someday's you feel like you will never get past the loopty loops.

At the time when I had my twins, now 18 months old, my husband and I had just gotten married, and lived in my parents house. And on top of that they were six weeks early, so we had to go through the trials of preemie babies. It was a long road, but I think things are finally getting better, and I know what you are going through.
