How late in your pregnancy did you find out you were having twins?

I was 6 wks pregnant. I had had a miscarriage 6 mnths prior so my doctor wanted to make sure everything was ok right away. So when I went to the ultrasound the tech told us that there were twins. I didn't believe her at first.

I was 14 weeks 3days when I found out I was pregnant and 14weeks 4 days when I found out I was pregnant with identical twins. So much for the pill. they have just turned 6yr

we planned on a third child and didn't succeed for awhile finally when realizing we were pregnant within of course not having a period that next month I ended up going to the hospital at 6 weeks thinking I was having a miscarriage it was kind of upsetting since we had been trying but the dr shocked me when he said everything was fine especially since we were pregnant with twins... my husband thought i was lying to him it was too funny since he had left the room when the dr made it in to tell us the results of the sono and other tests.. I didnt' believe them since when they were doing the sono all I saw was one little embryo.. but sure enough yes im expecting my girls here next week :) good luck w/ yours>

hi i was wondering if anyone can help me im 34 weeks i had mw the other day for a checkup after being in hospital she checked to see if she could find out what way she is lying and couldnt she found babys heartbeat at bottom of bump and then she checked my ribs to as its hard and sore and found another beat could this be another which would be impossible i think as im not that big for twins and how come they didnt pick it up in previous scans so now have to wait for scan but its always on my mind is it twins or just one baby

We found out at around 8 weeks when I had to have an emergency ultrasound when the doctor thought I may be ectopic. I really wasn't too surprised though, because I had a feeling. 28 weeks is pretty late to find out! Its definitely exciting, but could be overwhelming to think about. Hang in there. I have 17 month old twin boys and they are absolutely wonderful!

I was 9 wks, my Doctor normally only does 2 ultra sounds the first at 20 wks and the last at 34 weeks. I was insisted that I was miscarrying when I went in. I knew something was different from my first pregnancy. When he checked me he said we will do the ultrasound today because I think you are further along then you think you are. I was in total shock because we didn't have any twins in our families.

I was 12 weeks along when i found out, it was my 3rd pregnancy and thought i was going to die lol but when i found out that i was expecting a boy and a girl i was very happy since i already have 2 older boys 14 and 10 at that time.

I found out that I was having twins when I was 30 weeks pregnant. I think we where just as suprised as the Dr. was. Both of mine are girls. They are 8 years old now.

I was 21 weeks. they had done both kinds of ultrasounds and still missed the second baby. never heard the second heart beat either. it has been great though. they are now 4 and have a 14 month old sister.

I found out when i was 21 wks at my first ultrasound. It was a total shock for me as there is no history in my family of twins. They are 19mns now, id. boys. such a blessing.

I found out very early, at 8 weeks that I was having twins, Now I'm only ten weeks and have six more weeks until we know the sexes. :)

Wow, how may ultrasounds did you have before they saw the second baby?

I was about 4 months when I found out. They missed it on the first ultra sound. It wasn't until the second one it was determined. And I also got the impression that is was uncommon and should have seen right away.

I FOUND OUT I WAS HAVING TWINS AT 13 WKS THEY THOUGHT I HAD ONE BIG BABY AND THEN THEY DID A ULTRASOUND LATER ON THAT DAY AND I FOUND OUT I WAS HAVING TWINS. THEN LATER ON I FOUND OUT THEY WERE GIRLS. ONE WEIGHED 3IBS 9OZ AND THE OTHER WEIGHED 4LBS 6OZ THEY WERE SO TINY BUT ACTIVE THERE WEIGHT DIDNT STOP THEM FROM BEING BAD.LOL. THEY R NOW 20 MONTHS THEY WILL TURN 2 IN JULY

I was 25 weeks.. Only one heart beat for the longest time but I was way to huge for only carrying one. So the first ultrasound was a huge suprise to myself and my mom.....

i was nearly 18 weeks. i went for my first scan and when the sonographer told us she taught she heard 2 heart beats i nearly fell of the bleeding bed. the only words that came out of my mouth in pure shoch were (o fuk o holy fuk) and i must of said that at least 100 times over. its a major shock to the system. it skipped 4 generations in my family as the girl carrys the gene. so best of luck and i hope it all goes well for ye. i was asked to do a twin survey so i got a scan every 2nd week and it let me see the progress of the twins. it was deadly. i watched grow throughtout the pregnancie.

I found out at about 10 weeks. I wasnt feeling well. I felt alot worse than I did at my first pregnancy so I went to the doctor and found out it was twins. I had a very rough pregnancy but they were deff worth it. So Congratulations!!!

I found out at 10 weeks 5 days. I worked at the same hospital as the doctor, so she did a scan, so I could see the heart beat. Surprise!!! there was 2!

I was 8 weeks pregnant went I found out...I didn't even know I was pregnant...I went to the emergency room with severe nausea and stomach pains...I thought I had an infection because I had just had a miscarriage and a D&C procedure 2 months prior. They gave me an ultrasound thinking I had a tumor, because of my swollen uterus, but it turned out I was pregnant with twins. I have heard of women finding out very late in pregnancy; sometimes one is hidden behind the other.

Although it is uncommon, it happens! I didn't find out I was carrying twins until I was 20 wks. I had terrible morning sickness which lasted prettymuch all day and was actually losing weight because I wasn't able to keep anything down. When I asked my Dr if I could possibly be pregnant w/twins, she told me that the correlation between severe morning sickness and multiples was just an old wives tale. She assured me that she'd only picked up 1 heartbeat every time I'd visited her. When I was 20 wks, I had complications and had to go to the ER. I thought I was having a miscarriage. The ER Dr asked how far along I was. I told her 20 wks and she told me, "You're further along than that, your fundus is too high. Either that or you're carrying multiples" To which I replied "I must be further along than I thought then because my Dr says there's only 1" The ER Dr. thought that I had placenta previa, and scheduled an ultrasound. While the tech was doing the ultrasound, my then husband asked "is the baby ok?" and the tech replied "the babies are fine, strong heart beats and good measurments so far" we both said "Did you just say BABIES???" The tech couldn't believe we didn't know there were 2. So, at 20 wks, and on April fools day nonetheless, I found out I was having twins.

If I remember correctly I was about 5-6 weeks. I made y apt as soon as I learned I was preg and had to get in earlier because I was bleeding found out then that it was 2

Hello,
I found out when I was 18 weeks pregnant. It was my regular scheduled ultrasound. It was funny cause since I had gotten pregnant, I felt like I was having twins and kept asking my Dr if there was one or two babies in there. The week prior to my ultrasound, I though she picked up two heartbeats but she just told me the baby moved (yeah right!). She was surprised to get my ultrasound results! We already had a boy who is now 3 and had two more boys, they are now 13 months.

I found out when i was 7 weeks. well, one was 7 weeks and 3 days and the other was 7 weeks and 4 days. I was on the depo shot for 5 years and things went meassuring up so I had an early ultrasound when they discovered 2. I was in shock, but my bestfirend was prago at the same time and laughed when she heard I was having twins...we were due a day apart. I told her laugh it would come back, and it did when she was 26 weeks ago she found out she was having twins....I laughed! I had twin boy/girl on Nov 7, 2006 and on Nov 8, 2006 she delivered girl twins....but enjoy it's going to be a bumpy ride, but it's never a dull moment.......♥congrats♥

it is uncommon and why they uslay find them late is because one is hieing. i was 13 weeks when i found out and i all ready had a stoantgramy at 6 weeks and at that time they only heard one heart beat. to be honest they say it is but i dont think it is because what type of kids dont like to hide from thier parents.

It's a good, short story....

I had some spotting at 9 weeks. They did an ultrasound at 10 weeks just to make sure everything was ok. The tech was looking around for a LONG time and I was getting nervous. Finally I asked 'Is the baby ok?' His response 'The babies are fine.' Me..'what do you mean babies?' Him.. 'see right here. That's baby number one and over here is baby number 2.' Me... 'What do you MEAN there's 2?!' :)

I'm only 4'11" and I was 88 pounds before getting pregnant w/ my girls, so it was quite a concern to everyone to find out there was 2 in there.

I found out at 4 weeks with my very first ultrasound. BIG shock! My husband and I weren't even trying to get pregnant! They did the ultrasound at 4 weeks cuz I had a positive pregnancy, but was bleeding. Plus I was considered high risk because I had had 2 previous miscarriages. Have fun and good luck! Having twins is amazing! I could imagine life without my lil chunky monkeys!

I was about 3 months along. We had a scheduled ultrasound at the time and the Dr. mutters "oh o, double trouble" My husband said "what's wrong". That is when I kicked him and said "theres 2!!!!" Went from feeling shocked to scared to excited all in a very short time.

I was three months when I found out I was pregnant and thats when I found out that it was with two gurls twin. Everything turned out fine they are 17 soon to be 18 next month. They were full term one was 6 lbs12ozs and the other twin came by c-section she was 6lbs10ozs.

They told me THE DAY they told me I was preg. (fert. dr). I had a little time to get over the shock. Don't worry. Twins isn't as hard as you might think. Once you learn their "language", they'll tell you what they need.
I would recommend getting a LOT of sleep now......you'll see.
I had boy/girl twin at 24 weeks. I don't remember much any more in the way of sleepless night and such...we play often, and hard.
It'll be great!

I found out at 8 weeks, cause my older daughter was only 7 months when i found out I was pregnant again. Before her I had a miscarrage so i was considered high risk, and because I was over 30. I also started to show really early and larger than with the other 3 pregnancies I had had.
