My twins were born in the same minute via c-section. Crazy! The records department for the birth certificates actually called us to confirmed this since she said she never saw this before, but I have no idea what the average is.

Mine were delivered via c-section at 32 weeks, 1 minute apart.

There is a lady in our city that had her twins several weeks apart. But, that's obviously a rare case. :)

Vaginal birth...6 minutes apart...three half-pushes and I had two babies...the first one shot out so quick he ripped me up instead of down...split my clit in half.

[deleted account]

it depends on how you have them... i had to have an emergency c-section, so they were only 2 minutes apart. plus mine were 9 weeks early..

I had a homebirth to full term twins. They were 22 HOURS apart. No, this is not common and it would have never been allowed if I had gone to a Hospital. Both of my girls were also breech. I gave birth to the first one and attempted to birth the second. I tired myself out and my labor stopped. I went to bed and slept the night, waking up refreshed. I went for a walk around the block, only to run back home when I remembered that it was garbage day, I shot my bow, and my midwife finially gave me caster oil. A couple hours later my labor started back up. I know that I just totally freaked you out, but it is not normal, nor was it completely safe. My midwife let experince overule her common sense. Needles to say, I have two beutiful, healthy, and active girls.

I found this and thought it was interesting, and would give you a good perspective.

A 15-year German study[39] of 8,220 vaginally delivered twins (that is, 4,110 pregnancies) in Hesse yielded a mean delivery time interval of 13.5 minutes.[40] The delivery interval between the twins was measured as follows:

* Within 15 minutes: 75.8%
* 16-30 minutes: 16.4%
* 31-45 minutes: 4.3%
* 46-60 minutes: 1.7%
* Over 60 minutes: 1.8% (72 instances)

The study stated that the occurrence of complications "was found to be more likely with increasing twin-to-twin delivery time interval" and suggested that the interval be kept short, though it noted that the study did not examine causes of complications and did not control for factors such as the level of experience of the obstetrician, the wish of the women giving birth, or the "management strategies" of the procedure of delivering the second twin.

My twins were only ONE minute apart, by emergency c-section. I have heard of twins having different birthdays before, but I believe this is extremely rare (unless its around midnight) ;-)

My boys were only 4 mins apart and it was a normal vaginal birth! The second one decided to present his foot first so the OB went into overdrive (thank you) and got him out ASAP. Thank god for epidurals!

WOW looking at everyone elses comments I had a very long time between my twins. They were 2 hours and 31 minutes apart. I had them both natural, my second son decided he didn't want to come out I guess. If you have a c-section they will only be a few minutes a part but if you have them natural it is hard to say how far apart they will be.

It's important to stay calm. If your are trying this naturally, your babies will set the pace, just like a singleton. In fact, your doctor will try to do everything he/she can to help them along. A birthing for one mother, will be different for another, so this knowledge is really not helpful for you. There really is no norm. Heck, I have a set of twins, and a single, and the latter gave me more trouble. LOL
