How often do you give your infants a bath?

My girls have a bath every second day and if dirty from playing they have a bath or food they have one as well. So as they are active it is happening more and more. However they have sensitive skins so I make sure to use lotion and bath oil to help their skin.

I have 19 month old twin boys..they get baths twice a week..unless they need an extra one after dinner.

My boys are eight now, but when they were babies, infants, and toddlers we would do a bath every night. I think it helped them to know the routine, and it gave us a nice time to get calm together before our stories, and bedtime. They take showers now every two to three days, depending on how filthy they get! It doesn't seem to have harmed them, or their skin.

not that its bad, jsut can dry their skin. part depends on child, part climate. some say it strips the skin of the natural oils. saw our ped ystrdy for yr check. he said keep doing the soap each night if I want (baby wash, you know what I mean) and use vaseline all over the body. best moisturizer. but isn't petroleum jelly not healhty? heard something about that. anyone know? I tend to do all natural products for them so leery about this. at same time did do it last night and does work.

I give bath to my 10month old twins boys almost every day except Tuesdays & Fridays, after their morning cereal meal :) why is it bad to give them bath every day?

I would be cautious about water getting into the ears since it is getting colder. I bathe my G/G twins 2-3 times per week (more as needed) because it is labor intensive and I don't like to do it alone. Just make sure they have a warm room to come into afterwards and whatever works for you is the right things to do!

When my boys were really little we would do every 3rd day so their skin didn't get too dry. But now that they are older (17 mos) we really have to do it every other night or they get too gross. But I definitely see it taking a toll on my son with eczema, especially in the winter. But my other son, who doesn't have skin issues, seems fine. He probably would be ok with every night. If every night seems to be working for you and you don't see any signs of dry/rough/red skin and they don't seem uncomfortable, then just keep doing what you are doing. Every kid is different and yours might be ok with frequent baths!

We're an every other night family, but we also live in a very dry climate. I heard somewhere that if you follow the 3 minute rule (within 3 minutes of washing them get them out of the tub and within 3 minutes of getting out of the tub you put lotion on) you're ok to bathe every night. Plus they get super messy after eating and it's a great way to clean them up!

I also do the part of our every night routine thing. in the last little while my son started getting really dr patches. wasn't sure if it was the change in weather/bathing/or that he had been eating quite a bit of tomatoes. I switched to just letting them play in the water and washing the tush/genital areas. once a week I do head to toe. I've been oiling him with various 'natural' oils after each bath and in the morning and cut the tomatoes. cleared up well. have started with tomatoes again and still fine so figure it might have been the soaping ever night.

I agree with other posters. If it works for you and they are fine then keep doing it. we all know how hard putting two babies to sleep successfully is!

I've always bathed mine every night, it sets a nice routine. We have bath, pj's, milk in bed with bedtime story and it works a treat. Mine are 5 next week and still love the routine, and if they miss the bath they don't settle well, even now. Do whats right for you and yours x

My first rule is if it is not broken Don't fix it! If Your family likes it and the Girls like it do it. I did not like to give baths myself but when my mother in Law would have my twins she would always give them a bath and they loved it. She had 5 kids. Really Dear if it is working don't fix it.

my girls get a bath every other night. we have been doing every other night since birth. i always put lotion on their skin after the bath. i was told not too bath them too often also, but it's a nice routine and their necks get icky from milk etc.... they are now 13mths old and love splashing in the tub!! :-)

I have twin 22 month old toddlers who take a bath every other night (or as needed). They are self feeding, which means alot of food ends up in their hair and makes it greasy and matted down. We have set nights for bath time (that way we can plan messy meals on those nights), then after their bath is story time then bed time. I dont think I would bath them everyday b/c they have dry skin, and Im sure it will make it worse. But if your girls skin is normal, then just make sure to put extra lotion on after every bath so their skin doesn't dry out.

My boys have super-bad eczema, so they're lucky if they get a bath twice a week. (Bathes often make them break out, no matter what we do.) If you and your kids enjoy the nighttime routine and it doesn't cause problems, keep doing it. But if they start having rashes and struggling with their skin (The dry weather makes skin problems a lot worse), then talk to your doctor about what you can and should do. Or just try cutting down to every other day.

We did the same thing for our b/g twins. It was the only way to get them relaxed for bedtime. The doctor told us not to bathe them every night because of their skin. I was just careful to use a good lotion after. I say to do what works. It's not easy getting two babies to bed.

They don't need to be bathed every night, so cut yourself a break, get them to bed earlier every other night and have a glass of wine, watch some TV, talk to your husband or anything else you don't normally have time to do!!!!

Since birth, we have only bathed our twins once a week. The only exception would be if they went swimming or were dirty from playing outside. They are now 2 1/2. Unless they are rolling around in the dirt, little kids don't get that dirty, particularly when they are smaller. Bathing them more frequently is hard on their skin so we try to avoid it when possible.

In the beginning the hospital told us to bathe a couple times a week as well and as they got to about 3 months old we started bathing them every other night and they are now 9 months. If they have their swimming lessons on a non bath night we bath them anyways (just to get the cemicals off from the pool).

We give our girls a bath every other night, more frequently depending on how messy they get during the day. They know when its time for a bath too. When they were younger and only on breastmilk they got one 2 times a week, but now that they are eating table food and feeding themselves its easier to put them in the bath then try to wipe them clean. I just use lotion, put them in warm pjs and give them their blankets in bed.

We were told not to bathe our babies every night because it's not good for their skin? The doctors told us twice a week was sufficient. However, if it's part of your routine, I think that's awesome. Just put some lotion on them afterwards and make sure they wear hats to bed, and are in warm jammies.
