how to create twins?!

I was on the pill when I got pregnant with my twins. The ultrasound lady told me (and have since read it online as well) that if/when the pill does mess up (that lucky 1%) the chances of have twins increase because your system gets confused and release 2 eggs instead of 1.

Identical twins are completely spontaneous they have nothing to do with fertility injections or family history it is simply a random act in which your fertilized egg splits. Fraternal twins on the other hand can happen for any number of reasons.. I know a person who every time she gets pregnant she adds one baby.. twins, triplets, and now quads. The doctors say that genetics affects this but who knows for sure.

be offended if you'd like or take this whatever way you want...but women like you are exactly what i hate about public places that allow singleton or non mothers to join, women like you are what make most multiple moms feel like circus freaks. THERE ARE NO SECRETS. EITHER YOU CAN OR YOU CAN'T!!  There are no special foods, or climates, or sex positions or any other crap to conceive twins and fertility treatments to have twins or more, I believe makes the whole thing a ruse. It's not as special to me if you can't have multiples on your own.

I don't know if this helps but ever since I had my son (now 5) my father in law kept saying "next time its twin girls" he even put it on the prayer list at his mens group at church. and sure enough we had twin girls!

I am Overweight

There are twins on all sides of my family-possible reasons??

I got pregnant for the 1st time at 21 with fraternal boys.

All I know is I am kind of freaked out if I get prenant again that it will be twins again!

Also the doctor told me I have a cervix of steel!! lol. Not sure if that helps but I thought I'd throw it out there!!

LOL....I would chalk it up to old wives tells. Fraternal twins are genetic (runs in the family) whereas Identical twins is spontaenous. Anyone can have Identical twins but mostly african americans have the most identical twins, or so I've heard and read. My set are fraternal boys, which my mother lost a set in pregnancy as so did my sister. My maternal grandmother has a sister/brother that are twins and my maternal cousin had a set of boy/girl, plus I have a paternal 2nd cousin that has two sets of twins, a set of fraternal and identical. You have a greater chance of having twins if they run in your family. GOOD LUCK!

Hi I had my first set of fraternal twins when i was 27 and am now almost 5 months along with my second set and i am now 34 it kind of runs in the family my brother was a twin and mum lost one i dropped two eggs each time have been told being older contributes also eating sweet potato can also help i love it and its a staple part of our meal each night not sure if that helps but you never know i am short 5 ft3 and am on the larger size and both sets have been conceived naturally so best of luck :)

I went on 'the Fertility Diet.' We weren't trying for twins, no twins in the family, and I was 26. The diet is the only variable that could do it.

It runs in my husband and my family but the doctor told me that I made my girls faternal instead of identical because I porduced two eggs at a time and both were fertilized. Weird I know and I was only 18 years old.

I was 36 when we conceived our identical girls, so I'm guessing it was an age thing, twins don't run in our family at least not up until now. I don't eat Yams, I'm not Afro/carribean but a wee petite English girl :-)

According to discovery health the yams theory is true, which would make since why twins happen more often in African American and other brown races, we do eat a lot of yams, usually with our dinners and through out the holidays. I can tell you this, my boyfriend's mother was bring home sweet potato pies and bean pies from Christmas all the way up until the time I got pregnant with twins in March. :-) Good luck to you, eat your yams!!!

Hi! I am 28 weeks pregnant with faternal boy/girl twins. I have no idea how it happened other than the obvious..I had sex! LOL! Those wise tales are funny. I did drop two eggs, don't know why...it doesn't run in my family. I also currently have three sons, who were born all as single normal births....so the twins were a huge surprise and unexpectant.

lmao your crazy !!! my identical twins were conceived without fertility drugs BUT i did have the cancer vacine 2 days from conception which has been proving to create multiple pregnancies, i was preg with identical tripplets, one not having enough cell's to develope fully into a baby so we lost her at 15 weeks. fraternal twins can be hereditary , but not identical twins. other than that i have no idea what the wives tales are lmao !!

Not sure about the weight thing - I lost 65lbs before conceiving our b/g twins. I was 155 when we got pregnant and at 5'8" that is not overweight. We have a strong family tie of twins on both my hubby and my side of families. He was also gone on cruise for 8 months and I had my IUD taken out 4 months before he got home - after having an IUD for 6 years. We procreated the night that he got home - 14 days after this, I took a preg test and saw a definite positive - that should have told me SOMETHING!!!!! At 10 wks we found out it was twins - we already had 2 children (boy 8 and girl 7) and only wanted 1 more child - God just had other plans for us!!!!!

I am 28 this year, i had my twin boys going on 4yrs ago. I have a set of girls and a set of boy twin cousins, my husband however has 2 sets of boy/girl twin cousins as well. So we both had high chances of having twins.

Well, i don't think yams do much for pregnacies-I only eat them at Thanksgiving and I got pregnate with b/g twins in March! LOL! I know that the drs all say that once you are 35 your chances of twins almost triple because you release more eggs-Mother Natures way of ensuring the species. However, on my part I drink alot of raspberry sun tea (its proven to help with uterine health) and I was taking GNC's Fertility blend-NOT to get pregnate but because I had spent 10 yrs on the Depo shot and didn't want to go straight into menopause because I had gotten off of it. Quite frankly I had never expected to get pregnate again-let alone twins!! Good Luck!

well my twins turned 3 may 31st. they are ferteral boy girl. when i finally took myself into the dr at 20 weeks i measured at 29 weeks (i tried to get in at 16 weeks but they were booked) so immediate ultrasound the next morning. i saw it and my heart sank to the floor. the room got black. when my gma found out i was preg again (my 2nd child was born may 3rd of that year only about 4mths old) she joked and said wouldn't it be funny if it were twins. so i say its her fault. lol. plus her not telling me she was a twin and the twin was still born till after everyone found out i was preg with twins. my twins were born at 36 weeks gestation but the girl was only 34 weeks gestation. they were 6lbs 5oz and 5lbs 7 oz. the only reason i can think of why i got preg with twins is family. my sil was like i didn't know twins ran in dh family. well that wouldn't matter either way it only follows girls as the man cant control how many eggs there are. i am 5 ft 9 and was only 24 when i had them. i am a bit over weight but thats mainly for the fact of being preg for almost 3 years streight.

When I was pregnant with my twins, I read that:

- Women over the age of 35 have a higher rate,

- African-American women have a higher rate,

- Asian and Indian women have a lower rate,

- It runs in the women's side of the family because it is all about your eggs! The man and his side of the family have absolutely nothing to do with it! (except for fertilization) =)

That is one of my fears about trying to have more children. My husband and I have fraternal twin boys...it was a total fluke. I had so many complications the first time around, we dread having multiples again. Don't get me wrong, we love our boys so much and are so happy that we have them....but I really don't want to have to go through having 27 weekers again. Did yours both go well?

i think that i was drunk. lol i am a jokester. i really was shocked at finding out that i was having twins. they say the older you get in your thirties the more eggs you dropp. that is the only advice and if it runs in your family. i have no idea how but i know that it was and is a blessing to me

I just had Monochorionic-monoamniotic twins, i was told they are just a fluke as its the same egg, apparently identical twins are nothing to do with genes. ;)

I have twins 19 months old, I am not particularly tall, i am not over weight and i have never took fertility drugs,and I never eat yams! Its just the look of the draw. If u r unlucky u will have twins (lol).

First of all, good luck! Second of all.....identical twins may not be genetic, but here's some food for thought..I have identical twin boys, 8 months old...my sister has identical twin boys, 18 months old....my grandfather had identical twin sisters, his other sister had identical twin girls, one of which went on to have identical twin boys. That is on my father's side. And I am not even mentioning the fraternal twins. lol. I also have identical twins, triplets, and quads (yes, QUADS!) in my extended family (my mother's cousins and their children).
Enjoy the time with your hubby trying for your next little one (or two)....and tell him to rest easy as there's nothing you can do to increase your chances of having twins other than taking fertility drugs. lol.

not sure when i had my twins we were starting to think it had something to do with the water lol , i live in a country town and the year of their birth there were heaps of twins born ,to the point that the midwives had a chuckle n said u dont know how many twins weve delivered this year , me a friend and my neighbour all fell preg with twins, the same year but honestly i think it just depends on how many eggs u release as for making them the same way u make one lmao

As expected, these are definitely old wives tales that have nothing to do with anything. I have twins and won't eat yams. I'm not exceptionally tall. I had 3 sons before the twins came along. None were in my family. It just seems to be the law of averages or whether or not you are predisposed genetically to have multiple births.

Firstly there is a myth... If you have twins in the family, apparently there is a good chance you may have twins... My Doctors and Neo-Natal Doctors and Nurses, confirm that this is literally just a myth! Everyone is different!

Secondly... The older you are, the better the chances of multipules!

Weigh... Only being slightly overweight, will help your chances

I have twins... Two seperate eggs and both fertilised at the same time! We had been trying for years to get pregnant and were just about to speak to a specialist, when we got pregnant! I was a little overweight and 35 years of age...

I have 9 year old identical twins girls. Another reason for falling pregnant with twins is if you conceive quickly, that's what happened to me, but having a spa bath fitted a few weeks before could have helped!

We have identical twins- total "fluke" of nature since identical twinning has no genetic ties nor ties to heritage.

Fraternal twinning is a result of double ovulation. (releasing 2 mature follicles for fertilization) Aside from genetics (which by the way only count on the mothers side since its nothing to do with super sperm- rather the womans genetic ability to release two or more mature follicles) Parity (having many children) can help increase your odds. There are a few other ways that people swear help, but outside the scope of reality the only REAL surefire way to increase your odds of fraternal twinning is fertility medications.

Wow I never heard about the warmer climate before.  My husband and I are from Northern Alberta, we went to Vegas for one week to get married then to the Dominican for 12 days, 3 weeks after we got home we found out I was pregnant with twins!!

My set of fraternal twin girls became the third set of twins known of on my side of the family. I was 31 when I conceived and it just happened. everything was right at the same time I guess. There were no drugs involved. For some reason God decided that we needed two more girls instead of one boy. We wouldn't give them back for anything!

fraternal twins are most likely due to fertility drugs although it can happen naturally but identical twins are naturally conceived...

Fraternal is hereditary or caused by fertility treatments. Identicals are just a freak thing that happens. My girls are identical and I am small, 5ft, 115lbs and I don't eat yams. Good luck...just be ready for the work load..haha!!

I am a mother of identical twin daughters that are 7.....mine without the help of fertility drugs.....one of my brothers has a set of boy/girl twins, another brother's wife lost a set of faternal twins during the fourth month and my other brother's wife was pregnant with twin boys but lost one during the pregnancy and had one healthy boy. I dont believe in any of the old wifes tales regarding how to get pregnant with twins but there is also a miss conception regarding twins running in families. Identical twins are not hereditary but faternal twins are hereditary. Identical twins are a fluke thing that happens as the egg is dividing and faternal twins happen when a woman drops multiple eggs when ovulating (which is hereditary when a woman ovulates with multiple eggs)...I really dont think twins happen by an exercise or something you eat. They either happen medically by drugs or if its meant to be. But I wish you the best at trying and hope it happens for you. Again best of luck.
