My name is Olivia, my husband and I are expecting twins! I'm more than just a but scared of having twins for many reasons. I am very petite (5'0 and weighing in at 97 lbs), this is my first pregnancy (we adopted Wesley last year) and I'm almost 25. The last reason is the huge size difference between James and I, he's 6'7 and probably weighs at least 180-190 lbs. Large babies are very common in his family, he weighed just over 9 lbs and he's a twin himself.
I'm just worried about not being large enough to support them and be healthy at the same time. Any advice would be great. :)

My advice is to relax and enjoy your pregnancy. I was 100 lbs and 5'3" and carried twins with father who is 6'3" and 250. My Dad was a 10 lb'er and I was a little worried then I figured that would just cause problems so take walks, drink alot of water, rest if you are tired and eat great. That is about the only thing you have control over. I nice lady told me God must have thought you would make an incredible Mom to bless you with twins. So stop worrying and enjoy there will be plenty of time for worrying when they are teenagers :)

You may be put on bed rest at some point in your pregnancy. Find a good doctor you trust, they will monitor you and let you know if complications arise. Good news is twins are usually early! Congratulations !!

I had my twin sons at 19 years old and I am 4'11 and at the time was 98 pounds my twins are 26 years old now they were 6 week's early and were 4lbs 10 oz and 4ibs 9 1/2 oz, Don't worry about size our bodies will only go to the size that we can carry they told me they had to come out because no more room to grow so don't worry about size but eat good my Dr told me to eat good and I did and my twins were healthy! Don't worry it all comes to us like a Mama cat! Remember to eat good, plenty of rest don't do to much towards the end keeps them in longer! And once they get here it is work but twins are so worth the work! I am so proud to be a mother of twins! Double kisses and hugs and Love! I had to have c-section because of my 1st pregnancy and one of my twins was laying across my stomach and would not turn and because I was small the Dr did not want me to try to have them and I am thankfully I got both of my boys her safe and sound! Best of luck to you and your husband on years of joy with your double babies!

My twins are 33 years old. I found out 3 hours before they were born I was having twins. I lived in a small town and back in 1980 they didn't have the technology they now. The education of the medical staff will keep you and your babies safe from all problems possible. You are not the only pregnant lady that is having this problem now. Have faith and do what the medical staff tells you to do. I understand your concern- let the Lord take control of your life. "If He brings you to it. He will bring you thru it." You are in our prayers.

Make sure ask questions at the Drs appt. even if you think they are dumb. They will explain the best to you. I had twins 9 years ago! I was so scared but you something they were the best babies I had, they slept together in the same crib so they only woke up every 3 to 4 hrs. I now have 4 kids. They are 12, twins 9 and a 6 year old. And just like one of the ladies said God only gives you so much. He knows you can handle this.

Know this I too have twins & I'm 6'1" & 5'9" for my husband & was expecting large size babies mine were normal 6 pound babies, God will only give you what you can handle never anymore put your trust in him and bring on your faith it will provide for you and your family. My boys are almost 17 & both are exceptionally 6'1". Bless you & may you have the best pregnancy & delivery. You wouldn't be pregnant now if he didn't have a great plan for you & your husband. :-)

Our bodies are amazing things. They are made to stretch and accomodate these babies. I had twins at almost full term- they were born 12 days early, weighing 6 pounds 8 ounces, and 5 pounds 10 ounces. I delivered vaginally and the birth was actually easier than my first born son... You will be fine. Express your concerns to your doctor, he can ease some of your fears. They actually, by measurement of the femur, told me my girls were both about 8 pounds, but they weren't- just had long legs :) Relax and enjoy now and get as much rest as you can.. you will be busy feeding, changing, and cuddling two babies soon enough :)

My family has HUGE babies (I was 9lbs 10oz and my brother even beat that!) but my twins were 4lbs 5oz and 6lbs 3oz. This kind of stuff varies, also, they are restricted on room! Your doctor will keep track and let you know what is safe for you. They do not always let YOU in on this though, my doctor didn't tell me until t 35 weeks that I would be having my babies early. They usually don't let you go past 36-37 weeks with twins, it is not deemed safe for them or mommy to go to 40 or 40+ weeks. I had my babes by c-section at 37 weeks. It is going to be very scary, there is nothing I can do about that; I had already had a baby when I had my twins but I was TERRIFIED especially when I found out that I would have to have surgery. Try to keep calm and remember that the hospital staff does this all the time, they know what to do. Trust your doctor, and ask as many questions as you can to help ease your mind. Good luck!

I'm 5'0, my husband was 6'1" 200 lbs and over 10 lbs at birth. l had healthy twin boys at 34 weeks. They weighed 4lbs 15oz and 5lbs 4oz at birth. They stayed in NICU for 2 weeks to regulate breathing and feeding. They have no health concerns now, just happy healthy boys. My pregnancy was a bit difficult due to morning sickness (which varies person to person) and once I reached 24 weeks my uterus was stretched to maximum capacity. I was put on medication to relax smooth muscles and prevent labor. My sister also very petite in stature had twin boys at 38 weeks, both over 5lbs. She had a little swelling in her legs the last month and her blood pressure got too high in the last week. Her boys stayed in NICU for one week as a precaution. Just try not to worry, your twinkies will do just fine! Staying hydrated is the most important thing. Good Luck & Congrats!

I really don't have much advice to give for you being petite, I am 5'10" and weighed in at 160 when I had my girls. My twin daughters are 5 now. It is very important not to stress too much. I had my girls at 29 weeks though, but there was a lot of stress. I lost my dad 2 months prior to having them. BUT they did weigh 3.2 and 3.14lbs. So they turned out fairly big for their gestation. The doctors will monitor their weight gain. I am sure they will not let them get too big for you to hold. Which in reality, I am not too positive that that is an issue. There are people who have 3+ children at a time. So I do believe you will be just fine! It is only normal to worry. Good luck with the twins!

Hello oliviA, there's nothing to be worrie about it. Here is some advised I would like to share,
1). two months before the due, should drink pure orange juice, not from bottles or cans.

2). Walk and be active . Its to make the birth easier. I was 40 kg, and my baby weight was 5 kg.

So don't be stress. Thats important. Just enjoy. ♥♥

Rest, rest, rest.....My twin daughters just turned 3 and I am 43 with a history of endometriosis. One of my closest friends had recently given birth to a girl after numerous rounds of IVF and she referred me to her ob/gyn specialist who had delivered hundreds of multiples. He was fabulous and even though it was not an easy pregnancy, it was so worth it! My father was a twin and he was the smaller of the two at 7lbs 6 oz. I myself was 11lbs 11oz and my brother right after me was 11lbs 10oz so we have big babies in the family also. And my mom is 5ft 7in and MAYBE weighs 110lbs when not pregnant...very slim build. So she also took it easy and tried to eat right.
I think the best thing was staying close to supportive people because of the mental toll (worry and pregnancy seem to go hand in hand) and having a doctor I trusted 100%. Try searching in your area for a doctor that has experience not only in multiple births but also high risk pregnancies. Your body type and the babies sizes are not the main factors in whether you are all ok!

Don't worry you'll be fine! I'm only 5'2", and petite too, and had my twin girls when I was 40. My labour was completely straightforward, even though one was head down and the second was breech. Only difference when you're not so tall is that when your babies decide that things are getting crowded, then they will pop out early! My girls were born at 31 weeks, and weighed in at 4lb 4oz and 4lb 3oz. My pregnancy was the best time of my life. If I could do it all again I would! But my beautiful girls are now 25 themselves, so no chance, I'm afraid! Don't get stressed about it, just enjoy yourself. Twins are so much easier to look after too, they have their togetherness, and seem to settle more easily.

I had twins @ 30 yrs old I was also 95lbs and I am 4'11 at the end of pregnancy I had pre-eclampsyia and weighed 197lbs. Most was swelling and gone within weeks. My boys were preemie at 34 weeks and came out 4lbs and 4.15lbs without a c-section. They are 13 and healthy now.Talk to the doctor about your concerns but just because his family had huge babies doesn't mean you will. I have a friend just as small and her boys came out 6lbs something each. Take care of yourself and eat healthy. Make sure you follow Doctors advice/orders. But don't panic. Enjoy every moment it's really a blessing!

im 4 10, and my twins were 30 weeks, at about 2 1/2 lbs each. im not trying to worry you lol. but even with that, it still wasnt as hard as i thought iy would be. now theyre 3, and i think this is the age i should have been worried about. just do your best to stay healthy and find moms in your area who have had teins in nicu, so if (just in case) they need to be there for a bit you will be prepared and not overwhelmed. best of luck and congratulations to you

You can and will handle this well. Get a good OBGYN, make sure you do what they tell you, stay positive and bask in the gift you have been given. My twins are 5. Allow the doctors to care for you and then care for yourself. All will be fine. Bring out your warrior mommy.
