I need birthday cake ideas for my 1 year old twin girls.

I always make my babies their own little cake to eat all by themselves. For my first son we had a halloween party so the cake was halloween, for my second son I made a baby einstein cake for him. Because they're so little yet you can do whatever theme you really like. Simple things can be adorable like alphabet and numbers in bright colors or sesame street characters. You can get alot of ideas online.

I did the Very Hungry Caterpillar. I was adorable! I had little cupcakes with caterpillar heads on them to match the cake!! My twins girls also just turned one on July 15th. It helped with decorating since it's all primary colors.. and they love the book!!

For my twin sons' 1st birthday we had a Bumblebee theme. Everything was yellow, black, whit or blue and we made each of them their own tiny (palm sized) bumblebee cake and cupcakes made to look like bee hives arranged on three tiered cake plates to resemble a hive. The individual cakes were made from Easter egg shaped pans and decorated with black and yellow fosting and had black jelly bean (cut in half) for stinger and licorice antenna. The cupcakes were frosted in a swirled pattern (kind of like a swirled ice cream cone) and two jelly beans...each with 2 slivered almonds sticking out the side for wings...were placed sparatically to look as if they were flying into the hive! We recieved many compliments and yes, the black frosting was a MESS...but that was part of the fun!

I just threw my b/g twins 1st bday party. We did a bear theme. I made a large (wilton pan) bear on top of a round layer cake for the guests and then made a mini bear for each child sitting on top of a mini layer cake. Turned out pretty cute - the pictures were great of the babies biting the bears. It was a nice and easy theme - even served teddy grahams!

If you live near a Publix Grocery Store they give free mini cakes for babies' first birthday.I did that for my twin boys first birthday ,they received a free cake and I purchased a larger one for their party.

We did three cakes.... Two small ones with one with pink flowers and one with purple flowers and one sheet cake for everyone else. The girls got to destroy/eat the little ones and our guests got a clean piece.
For my youngest daughter, we did 2 cakes. One big one for everyone. and a small one for her. It was shaped like a kite! really cute.

We do a cake for each child and do pictures together and separate. Bunnies, sandals (one each child), puzzle pieces. I had a friend who did a garden theme for her daughter and she was the bunny. The year before, it was a monkey theme. This year, we did a princess nad the pea cake for our daughter, and car-themed for our son.

We blew up 100 balloons and put them all on the floor in our bedroom. I had a white blanket and put in on the bed and down on the floor. Then, I put the babies on the white blanket in the middle of all the balloons. I took a lot of pix and found the best one, then I took it in and had the picture done on the cake. The cake matched the invitations! It was super cute. It had their picture in the middle and balloons as a border. That was the big cake. I also did small cakes for the babies. They were really simple and just had Happy Birthday with their names on them! Btw, the big cake was an ice cream cake. Nice that you don't have to do cake and ice cream for everyone! All in one!

Good Luck on the first birthday party! Not sure if you are having a big party or not, but if I had it to do over again, I would hire someone to take pix for me during the party. I had a family member taking them and I didn't get all the shots that I wanted! They were so excited about watching they forgot to take a lot of pix! Just a thought for you.

I just made simple cakes one for each that said Happy Birthday with their names and age. I figureed they didn't mind because they were to young to know the difference, and I was 9 months pregnent with my 3rd so I didn't have the energy to make anything else. They refused to eat them anyway, they didn't like the way cake tasted ill they were 2.

We did two Winne the Pooh cakes, but had the shirts in different colors for our twin sons. One is always in blue and the other in green, that was cute. You could do another character for them the same way!! I was also thinking of doing a huge cupcake for each of them and then a cake for everyone else. It does depend on what theme you are going with... I always loved Winnie the Pooh for first birthdays, that's what we did for our 6 year old also...good luck!! :)

How many people at the party? If its small and they don't have any real set preferences yet, the cake I liked the best of all the ones I did was a little beach scene. I made the cake in a bundt pan and after it cooled thoroughly filled the center hole with blue jello. I frosted the cake with green frosting and sprinkled spots of crushed teddy graham crackers for sand. Fruit loops for swim rings, teddy graham people and peppermint balls for beach balls. green fruit by the foot became beach towels and some of it cut into frond shapes and stuck to a twizzler became palm trees. The twins loved it and since it was just our family for their actual b-day with a bigger family party later that month (everyones schedules were BAD that year), it worked out to be the perfect amount. Making the cake can be the best fun and they'll LOVE anything you make at this point in thier lives. Enjoy it!

Hi Rachel,

For my girls I got online and searched for ideas to help me out also. I did find something that I thought was so cute. I found everything as for as plates, nakins, party favors, etc. and the theme was 2 Peas in a Pod. As for as the cake I did one big cake for who attend the party with their names on it in the green color and I did each of my girls a sm cake icied like one of the peas in the pod. I also found them a shirt and had it made for the that said 2 Peas in a Pod with their names on it. Hope that you found something that you like before there party gets here.

what are your kids into right now? ponies, elmo, princesses, dora the explorer, that kind of stuff?? if they are into anything like that then get a cake with there favorite character on it. or just make one. you can either give them one cake to share or get or bake each one a small cake. i did the same cake for my twin daughters throughout the years. they are 6 years old now. now that they are alot older i am going to start doing individual small cakes because they don't have to share everything. good luck
