I am currently trying to introduce my 5 month old twins to baby food. I have been giving them a tablespoon of rice cereal and applesauce at 6 pm every night. How do I gradually introduce more? If I start feeding them breakfast as well do I still give them a bottle right when they wake up? What should their eating schedule look like? And how do I know how much to give them?

my suggestion though would be to start out with the veggies.  Once we introduced the fruits afterwards my daughter has become a really picky eater when it comes to baby veggies. But since they both can handle it now my son and daughter do it some solid foods now too.

My twins are now ten months old. What we've been doing since we started breakfast was when they wake up in the morning  give them their cereal and a fruit and then we give them their bottle afterwards to wash it down.  They eat their breakfast better if they don't have a bottle beforehand.

Keep the same eating schedule as before. Give them their bottles then after they are done with the formula give them some solids. They are just practicing at this point and are not getting any nutrition from the foods so you want them to continue with their formula. I feed my 10 mo old girls this way. They get solids 3x a day... 9:30, 1:30, and 6:30(just before bed). I still do the other feedings as well they are breasfed so they also nurse at 4am, 7:30 am, and 4:30 pm. You probably do less feedings...keep doing what you have been doing just add the solids. Good luck!
