Is it possible to have a "Hidden Twin"?

Hi I've just join an asked the same thing my photo is of my ultrasound n we can all se two face but the doc says only one so I wouldn't worry I'm trying to find out as well :-/ wait till ur next scan n bak the cheek for twins

Hi I'm 18wks now but when I went for my 9weeks ultrasound they said there was only one baby BUT I got home n had a really foot look n where the legs r meant to b u can see a babe face that is looking at u n the doc said it was its legs but it looks like a face looking at u. If I was u I wouldn't stress n I would b asking when u hav ur next scan to double check like my self.

I had the blood pregnancy test. My levels were much higher than they should have been that early in the pregnancy. That was my first clue, then they did a sonogram. What ever happens, you'll know soon. Just remember the extra stress is not going to help.

At 7 weeks they should have been able to see twins quite clearly. I have heard of hidden twins but that usually happens when the doctor waits until 20 weeks for the first ultrasound and then the other child is laying behind the first. But at 7 weeks they can get a pretty good look at every part of your uterus and should have been able to see a twin.

Yes it is possible. A gentleman I work with has a daughter who was pregnant with what she and the doctor thought was a singleton. Well unfortunately she had a miscarriage. Shortly after she contacted her doc and insisted on an ultrasound. She felt like she was still pregnant. Low and behold she was still pregnant, with the twin of the miscarried baby. During prior ultrasounds they didn't pick up on the twin because it was "hiding". She now has a healthy beautiful girl.

I had my 1st scan when i was 17 weeks and only 1 baby was seen. It wasn't until i went for my 22 week scan that we discovered we were having identicial twins. So def is possible that 1 can be missed.

it's possible but not likely. They go by your uterous size and belly size. And you'd be showing bigger than a singleton pregnancy

I had a scan at 5 wks 5 days, clear as day two sacks, only one sacks heart beat could be seen so they did an internal scan to see the other. With technology these days I very much doubt they would miss a baby

Yup. It's definitely possible. My 7-week ultrasound didn't show two, but my 12-week ultrasound sure as heck did.

Anything is possible but the doctor would probably have said something about anything unusual on the ultrasound, also it is likely that if your having twins you'll have an ultrasound earlier than 20 weeks because you'll be measuring large for gestational age.

They should be able to see the hearts beating at 7 weeks.

At the early stage you are in, its SO difficult to tell... Not only because they are so small, but theres also something called a disappearing twin... where you start out with 2 but one kind of absorbs the other. Wait a month or two, DONT STRESS cuz it will just hurt you and your baby, and in a couple months, ask your doctor to please give you another ultrasound to check. If you feel sick ALL the time, its possible. Its also possible you are just unlucky and supersick lol. Just wait it out, you'll know soon enough!!

At that stage it is really hard to tell one way or another, but anything is possible. I didn't find out I was having twins until I was four months along, but that was due to insurance issues.

I would suggest however, if you have any concerns about your ultrasound at all, you should speak to your doctor about it. That is what they are there for after all. Just because they don't seem concerned about it, doesn't mean you can't ask them about it, don't hesitate to ask questions!

I also couldn't tell anything from the picture. However, they made it all the way through my 6 week ultrasound and were getting ready to take it out when they spotted our second sac and had to start all over. It is very possible to miss a twin that early on, but then again it could be nothing.

nd cnt really see much from that picture! it is far too early to tell i was 6 weeks 6 days when i found out it was twins frm an ultrasound but i could clearly see 2 seperate sacs though identicals are in one sac time will only tell!

any thing is possible but im sure the doc would have said something if they suspected anything as there the experts and if they didnt spot it or spotted it and were concerned about it they would have said something! hope this helps!
