I am new to this site. I have my first iui on the 2 Feb 2013. pregnancy test on 6dp and come out positive. day 8 again positive and day 10 and 14 was negative Af arrived on the 15 and on the 16 I went for my blood test it came out positive. Today my blood count was 1,104 is it normal for it to be so high this way? I need a help.

this happened to me. everywhere i turned, there were twins. it was my 1st pregnancy & i was only 19. i didnt know of any twins in my family. i would open a pregnancy book, just flipping thru & there was the twin chapter. every pregnancy webpage was twins this & twins that. 3 ppl told us it was twins less than a week before our 1st u/s@15wks. the nurse looked @ the dr & said, "is that a..." we were so excited because we knew she was gonna say boy. the dr says, "yep...twins!!!" my boys are 10yrs old now :)

I was approximately 6 weeks pregnant when I found out. 2 weeks later I started spotting and was rushed in for blood work and ultrasound. After the bloodwork was done I found out my Hcg level and looked it up and saw that it was higher for how far along I should have been. A co-worker of mine laughed and said "you're having twins" I laughed back and said "yea right" But a week later at the ultrasound we found baby "A" and baby "B". It was a definite shocker for me because I never thought I would have children because I have a problem ovulating. I do not have twins in my family and neither does their father. I did my research and found out that fraternal twins are hereditary and identical are not. My boys are mono/di twins. And I love them to death even though they do drive me crazy! :)

I knew from the day I peed on the stick I was having twins, and everyone I said it too told me I was crazy, but I had a 4 year old son and knew this pregnancy just felt different. I was right! at 8 weeks 4 days, found out we were expecting 2 babies. Im now 32 weeks along awaiting thier arrival. Good Luck !

nope not yet, they have me down for 20 week ultra sound, I'm 11.5 ..... oh if patience, wasn't so needed during pregnancy we might not be prepared for after the babies born. LOL....

Crystal, did your belly get bigger and harder or just bigger. cause I normally don't break out my maternity close until 5 months. And I am already needing them and I'm 10 weeks. but my belly isn't super hard my like it normally was. It's like my babys pushing all my guts up and it looks like I'm almost 5 mos pregnant. My husband was like, why do you look so big already? You haven't been gorging on food. I was like ...i know! I don't get it. I'm even less weight with this one then I was with the others. odd.

I forgot to mention that the reason we found out is going to an appt and the dr thought that I had a fibroid! So she sent me to get an ultrasound that day and the lady doing it asked why she sent me over so I told her. She started laughing and said "Well do u have a name for ur fibroid? b/c ur having twins" =)

I didn't find out that I was having twins until 16 wks. My husband and I, both, knew it was twins b/c I was a lot bigger than my first pregnancy and my husband's cousin was pregnant w/me around Thanksgiving but she was due 3 months before me and I WAS A LOT BIGGER THAN HER! That's when we knew for sure LOL We found out we were having twins in the middle of December 2 days before my husband's birthday =) Sometimes u just know

On my husband side one of his aunts or grandmother had seven sets of twins, on my moms side a cousin andmy mom had twins.

i don't know, just so happens twins run on both sides of my ffamily. they came every generation on my moms side the skip my moms generation but all of her generations children are having twins. Didn't really know to much about my dads side until 2yrs ago found out the had twins every generation. My grandma and great grandma had twins

I think it's absoultely possible you are having twins, you know your body better than anyone. I had a singleton baby before my twins and with their pregnancy I KNEW something was different. My husband and I both suspected twins before my first apt at which my doctor told me I was crazy...I had an ultrasound a week later, and there were my two little babies! Trust your gut, ask the ultrasound tech to search well at the next apt, you are probably right! Good luck to you!

My doctor said that i was having one baby at my first ultrasound, and each other appt until i had my quad screening and it came back with an elevated protein level and they sent me for a 3D/4D ultrasound at 19 weeks and that was when i found out i was having twins- my belly was growing exceptionally fast as well

Mine are Thirteen now what an age!!! They were the best of my six kids, to take care of I miss them as babies the were so cute! Their cute now too, ofcourse ;)

I agree with some of the other ladies that sometimes one of the twins can be "hiding" and may not be detected early on if you have an U/S. I didn't have one until 20 weeks (it's not routine to do them earlier here), and I wasn't measuring really big. My belly didn't get gigantic until after that point, but up until then I was about the same size as I was at 20 weeks with my first pregnancy with my son.

when our first born was about a year old, I was really, really keen on having "a second child", so I became pregnant again, and a lot of things were different than with the first pregnancy. (i) with No.1, I was really sure, it would be a boy (gut feeling only) - and it was a boy. with my No 2 pregnancy "I could not make up my mind", so my feelings could not decide, whether it felt like a boy or a girl - turned out to be one of each :o) and (ii) the "pregnancy feel" was _much_ stronger. All the little symptoms that come with begin pregnant just were _big_ symptoms with this one, so I really felt PREGNANT. And in week 8, the gyn/ob discovered two blinking little blobs - the two hearts. It was a shock at that time, because I had not thought about twins at first - but then it all made sense. My hubby had always favored having 2 kids (coming from a 3-kid family himself) and I had always wanted 3 - so we had 2 pregnancies and 3 healthy kids. My mom's comment: "buy two, get one free. you've always been efficient" :o))) LOL

Thanks again ladies. I am sooo wanting to go in for another U/S. But we're self pay and I have to wait to save up. Again, I hear you guys's stories and it feels like you're just sharing how I feel. I have been pregnant 6 times now and never been ready for maternity clothes. Not that I'm like showing but my belly is tight where my pants are and I feel like all my intestines are uncomfortable. Thats as best as I can put it. With all of the last 5 babys I opened up my maternity box at 4.5 /5 mos. I'm 9 weeks nd I keep begging my husband to go find it in the shed cause these pants suck. LOL. All I think about is these babies. not the baby. I told Coltin (my husband) last night I feel so convinced that it's twins I'll believe until I'm done birthing. :) We'll see I will keep everyone informed.

I clued in at 7w but the 8w US found only one. I asked the dr to look for another and she looked at me with hateful eyes and said "why would you have twins, you didn't have IVF". this was a fertility dr and she probably thought I wanted to have twins. No I didn't. I just wanted a healthy baby.

At the 12w US my husband asked so what's this US for, they measure and we can get a picture? And my answer was yes and we find out how many. he freaked out and said I was big for 3 months and in the first 5 seconds he saw there was one baby "oops it's gone, yes it's back but wait a minute the wand is on the other side of her belly now, can it swim that fast, what the...?" Then the tech asked do you know you are having 2? And I said yes, I was told I had one but I know it's 2. Of course I freaked out I didn't want to have twins and I got scared but that only lasted for a whole 15 seconds and then I was too happy. So special, after all those miscarriages, I was scared to lose 2 now. But this is the only vital pregnancy I had so thank God for both.

My husband said we were going to have twins a boy and girl BEFORE we were married and that's what we had! My husband is a twin, and my mom had twins but miscarried them :( before I was born.

Your odds are definitely up with this being your 6th pregnancy. Are you over 35? If so, your odds go up too. I knew at 6 weeks something was different because I was showing a lot at 6 weeks and when I went in for 8 week ultrasound, sure enough, twins!! I would definitely have another ultrasound to make that determination.

You could be having twins, Everyone told me I was having twins my first pregnancy because I gained weight so fast, and we found out early that I was because we went to the doctors to hear the heartbeat and we couldnt so they sent me for an emergency ultrasound and that is how we found out because the ultrasound tech said there is the heartbeat and then said wait a minute there is baby number 2's heartbeat. My twins make the 5th set of twins on mine and my husbands side.

I remember feeling a hard little ball in my tummy at 8 wks, everyone was like you can't feel anything yet, but I was sure I could! The twins were my third pregnancy, when I went for my ultra sound at four months I found out I was having twins! The tech said this was her third set of twins she found this week! One couple was like 30 wks, had already bought everything for one baby!! I guess they had to go back to the store!

We totally thought we were going to have ONE other boy, since there're only boys on my hubbies side of the family. Well, 19 weeks along and feeling REALLY huge, come to find out we were pregnant with twin GIRLS. Talk about shock.... lol.... Never in a million years would I have guessed. Anywho - it's not unheard of, though rare, that they miss a baby on an ultrasound.

I was feeling extremely ill and was in a lot of pain, and had my first scan at 6 weeks. It clearly showed two sacks, but only one embryo (the other was hiding). Went for another scan a week later and it clearly showed two embryos. I was worried about vanishing twin syndrome, but luckily it still showed twins at my 12 week scan. I wasn't surprised at all as I've always 'known' I was going to have twins, even though we've never had twins anywhere. Just a gut feeling.

If your twins are identical, it could have easily been missed by an ultrasound. Trust your instinct...you'll know in a few weeks if you're HUGE!

It could be possible!!! My twins are my first and only pregnancy, but twins did run in my family. I had a very weird intuition from the beginning because I was getting big fast. I had other friends who were pregnant but way further along than I was and I looked as big as they did! When it came time to hear the baby's heart beat, the doctor only heard one. I asked if she could double check and if there were any chances that I was having twins but she reassured me that I did not have twins. Every time I kept going in for a check up, I kept asking her "are you SURE it's not possible?" I remember reading a pregnancy book which mentioned all of the symptoms of pregnancy and I had every single one of them. After reading that I read on and it said that women who are pregnant with multiples often times experience all of these symptoms/their symptoms are a lot stronger. That was the case with me. I didn't find out until my 20 week ultrasound that I indeed had twins. The doctor was shocked...but my intuition was right all along...except for the fact that I felt I was going to have a girl but ended up with 2 boys. haha

Hey Tracy, thanks for you question. No I have no update yet. I am right not dealing with a subchronical bleeding or something like that. So we're doing blood test and things. I'm only 9 weeks and I go see my mid wife next week. I am so completely happy to have one single baby. I have conquered having babys and I know how to do the usal things we would need to. So I'm not going to be one bit sad if it's just one. Actually I know I'll be quite nervouse if theres two. I just thought the other night, how would I nurse in bed if it was two? I would have to get up and nurse holding them right? So things like that worry me a little. One of the many reason why we'd be extreemly excited is because we knew we'd stop at 7 kids. This would kind of be like catching two birds with one net. We'll see. One baby or two we're blessed and happy. Either way, I have a few months until they'll be here. I will forsure up date everyone as soon as I hear.

Moms' intuition is a pretty strong thing! I had an U/S at 4 weeks (I was a fertility patient) when they told me there was one sac. I was happy, but for some reason it didn't feel right, although I didn't know why. About a week later I had a "feeling" that it was a girl, and so started calling my baby "she". A few days later, I had the same really strong feeling it was a boy, so I figured it wasn't intiution at all....until I had my next U/S at 6 weeks when we got the big news. When she told me, everything just sort of clicked and felt right. And when they were born, a girl and a boy! I'm sure intuition isn't always right....but there certainly is something to be said for it. Hang in there until your next U/S, but definately push for another one when you are further along. Also, as was said above, with each pregnancy your chance of multiples goes up, as it also does as you get older. Congrats and best of luck with your pregnancy - whether it be one or two!

i know where you are coming from.. i am now on week 19 of my twin pregnancy.. i m/c a pregnancy back in june of this year and had a ew minor complications after that.. two months later i had abnormal bleeding and pain.. i figured that it was midcycle bleeding nothing to worry about but got checked to be sure.. my doctor told me i ovulated and to test for pregnancy in two weeks.. i took a test and it was negative, took another test 3 days later was negative, took another one a week later was still negative, and after 5 weeks i still had no period.. so i figured i would do just one more test and if it was still negative i would call the doctor again because i felt like i did last time i was pregnant.. sure enough it was a faint positive.. so i called my ob office told them it was positive and they sent me for the blood work.. it was for sure positive (dont know the exact level) so my ob set me for my first ultrasound at what i thought was 10 weeks along.. when the doc started doing the ultrasound she said i was actually at 8w3d along and saw the baby just fine.. just as she was pulling the u/s probe outshe caught a glimpse of something so she went back in and sure enough there was a second baby tucked behind my first baby.. i had suspected twins already even before this appointment because i could feel my uterus growing rapidly.. by the time i went in it was already quite bi.. and even before i had the ultrasound when the ob did my pelvic exam she said it seemed a little on the large side..

so all i can say is if you still feel that you might be expecting twins it may be possible that one is tucked behind the other baby... so i would definitely get another ultrasound and make sure they check really carefully cause it could be like mine where they almost missed it at 8 weeks... good luck and even if it is just one baby you are still blessed.. congrats and good luck to you and your family!!!

Wow! Thanks to everyone. It's so great to get feed back. Like I said I'm pretty on track with my intuition. I knew what everyone of my kids were. I knew when I was pregnant. I know what they were going to look like. I even picked out actors durring their pregnancy and when they were born. Right on. It's cool. But that doesn't seem crazy to me. Not having twins in my family seems crazy to "feel" like I am with no doubts. It's odd. But I just feel it so strong. I do have an appt on the 12th and I did plan on bringing it up to my midwife. She seems really awesome. I'm also going to talk to my old midwife I had with the rest of my kids and see what she thinks. She's got like 38 yrs exsperience so I'm sure with her history and what she knows of me she'll be able to send some advice. But thanks for helping tame my crazy brain. I already feel crazy with all the up and down emotions. Which are worse this time then any other. OHHHH.... One other thing, my first due date was 8.22.11 (nice double numbers) then after my ultra sound it got switched to 8.11.11 I just laughed when I saw that. Ok, thanks all.

I had an 8 wk ultrasound adn they missed a twin, not until my 20 week did they discover Baby B! I too just *knew* it was twins, it's why I had an 8 wk ultrasound to begin with! (Well, that and my previous twin pregnancy) I told my midwife it was twins, I told my husband, I told everyone it was twins, and I was right! They didn't even pick up a second heart beat at any of my appts until after my 20 wk ultrasound!

Bring it up to your doc, another, thurough, ultrasound should catch a twin if there is one.

I'm guessing you probably aren't pregnant with twins -- sorry! A twin pregnancy is easily detectable at 8 weeks by u/s. They could tell at 6.5 weeks with my first pregnancy that it was twins already. I believe I was 8 weeks with this pregnancy when I had the first u/s and it showed twins.

Considering it is your 6th pregnancy your odds do go up quite a bit. Most people that have fraternal twins with no family history it is a later pregnancy. I have two sets of twins and the first time I actually had an early ultrasound and they didn't catch that it was twins. I was having some medical issues and they wanted to make sure the baby was ok. As soon as they found one they saw heart beat and stopped looking. A month later at my first official ob appt she heard two heart beats and sent me for a ultrasound. It is possible. Also, when I first went to the dr for a pregnancy test I remember the nurse reading the results saying something like "with those numbers your definitely pregnant." It was a first pregnancy so I didn't know what that meant. Only after finding out that I was having twins did that bit of information make sense to me. Hope that helps. I think you should discuss your thoughts with your midwife. It would be pretty easy to rule it out with another ultrasound.
