My ID twin boys were a total surprise and were 3 months early. So I hear you! My boys are 2 and a half now and look pretty great! It is hard to find people to connect with because everyone has such different parenting styles and Frat and ID twins have different issues to deal with. I am in Pflugerville Texas, we can email!

Hi!

I have identical twin boys that were born Aug 26th2009. They were mono/di ( two amniotic sacs one placenta - I am pretty sure that it what it was called) Life is crazy and I am exhausted! They are doing great though. They were born at 37 weeks and weighed just under 6lbs - so they came home with us 2 days later. We are very, very lucky.

I don't know anyone with identical twins either - mostly fraternal. The boys look so much alike, but we can tell them apart easily now. Not at the beginning though :)

I am starting to see differences in personality. Does anyone else? I am also wondering about allergies. Since they are genetically identical do they automatically share allergies? Is anyone else seeing different personality traits etc...

:)

I have identical twin daughters who are 5 yrs old. I made it to 37w3d. We thought that the girls had the same sac (mo mo) but as they got a little bigger...we saw a separating membrane. They shared a placenta.

Hi my identical girls were born Ocotber 4th 2009 4lb 11oz and 3lb 9oz so not to far apart from yours. Our babies look kinda similar too, I will have to post picures. They had a rare late twin to twin transfusion of the blood supply and had to be emergency c section at 34 weeks. They are doing great now after transfusion and a blood reduction for the smaller one. I like your girl's names! My girls are Baily and Cloey. I also have annother set of Identical twin girls Annabell and Alesha that are 8 born Dec 6 2001. I know, thats very rare. I guess Im just lucky ;-} They will look less alike as they get older and their personalites will shine diffrently. You will be able to tell eaisly, but others will have a hard time. My older girls handle this just fine they are really used to letting people know who they are. Twins are a lot to handle at first, but it gets eaiser when they get older and play together.

my twin girls are identical and they just turned 2 on march 24th. i had them at 38 weeks and had to have a c- section baby A- layla was breech. they are identical but now ive noticed that they both have 2 different personalities, layla is the oldest of the two and she is the more laid back and gusty one. georgia is my mommas girls, such the little drama queen. daycare gets them mixed up alot but i had their ears pierced at 6 months and keep layla with purple earrings and alot of her clothes and blankets are purple. and georgia has the color pink. it helps alot at daycare. but to me cuz i see them everyday they look different but at the same time very much alike. it is very interesting watching them talk to each other and play, they are each others best friends. i had to seperate them in different cribs when they were 6 months cuz layla was born with her hips dislocated cuz she was breech for so long and georgia was laying on top of her, so she was in a brace for her legs and hips at for til they were a year old, and they did perfectly fine in different cribs, i kept them right next to each other so they could still see each other, i have a question for some of you guys, do your twins fight alot? my girls do but only when one has something the other one wants and when that happens they can get pretty mean to each other, if any of your twins do what are some things you do? ive been carefull about getting them the exact same thing, but i want them to different.

[deleted account]

hey there, my identical twin girls where mono di (same placenta diffrent sacs) I went until 34 weeks but was in pre-labor for a week before that (admitted and stayed in the hospital for a week to be monitored) and was put on bed rest at 24 weeks due to funneling of my cervix (open at the top but closed at the bottom). They stayed in the NICU for two weeks. But now they are like any 13 months old walking around being funny. I love every minute of it and I am enjoying every minute of them.

I have Identical twin boys that are 22 now. I also have identical twin nieces that are 28. I have never been able to tell my nieces apart. I don't see them very often so that makes a difference. My boys are still hard to tell apart however, if there is more than 5 pounds difference than it's easier. I didn't know I was expecting twins until the day they were born. I didn't have a sono, nor did the doctor think it was twins. We were surprised when they were born by c-section. My doctor appologized every time he saw me. He began doing sonos on a regular basis after my twins were born. Enjoy your twins and remember they are two people. I was told by a mom, that she always made sure that each twin had their own birthday cake. Now if anyone knows how to buy items for your twins that aren't the same thing but in different colors that would help me.

I have identical momo twin boys. They were born October 18 2007. I also have the same twins you do but they called them mo mo twins. They were born 8 weeks early and in the NICU at Mcleod childrens Hospital. They told me that these types of twins are rare. How interesting that you also have the same types of twins.

Hi, I have identical twin boys who were born on January 9, 1998. They were 32 weeks when they were born and weighed 3lb 6oz and 3lb 9oz. They are 12 years old now and boy are they a handful but I luv them! Till today a lot of people still confuse them. They go to different schools because when they were in the same school the teachers couldn't tell them apart and they would switch class rooms till they got caught. It is great to have twins and it is truly a blessing. I hope you enjoy every moment of it!

I have 9yr old identical twin girls, Kaitlyn & Sierra. Watching them has been amazing! I have never seen 2 people who are as close as these 2. Except that they are in different classes at school they do everything together. Even as babies they are always touching somehow when they are asleep.

Wow!!! you boys are real little miracles. We were very blessed to have had a very easy pregnancy. I carried very small till about 30 weeks at which stage a doubled in size literally overnight. The babies were healthy all throughout as well. I think that was probably due to the fact that my hubby insisted i resign and be a stay - at - home wife/mom for the sake of the babies. I was terrified of TTTS.

My boys are identical mono-di. They had twin to twin transfusion and delivered @31 weeks. They will be 5 tomorrow!!!!! I am so glad they are here. It was a struggle to get through the last 8 weeks. I found out I was having idenitcal twins at 7 weeks and then that they were boys at 18 weeks then diagnosed with stage 3 twin to twin transfusion at 23 weeks. 5 amniocentises to reduce fluid I had two little boys weighing in at 2lb9oz and 4lb 6oz.

We have had a great time but I know that every family is different and our first 2 were 9 and 10 so they were helpful. I was sad (missing my boys) when I was in the hospital for the 9 weeks before the girls were born. But everything worked out over the weeks and months in the NICU. Before the triplets were 2 I was pregnant with twins but lost one at 9 weeks. So our youngest is about to turn 6. My girls may be identical but they couldn't be more different. My favorite thing is when one wears the dress the other one wanted and she gets mad and says, "your not beautiful" I just laugh and tell them what you say to her you are saying to yourself. Just go look in the mirror!!! Autumn was always 23% bigger than Hannah in utero and that has continued though the years. I can't wait to have an addition to our family be it having another baby, foster care, or adoption. Your house is probably very busy with four boys!!! I bet your an amazing mom.

I have identical mono-di twin boys born in April 2008, via scheduled c-section at 39.5 weeks (presenting twin was breech). I thank God I had no complications during pregnancy or after their birth, it is crazy enough adding infant twins to a house with two boys already and I'm not sure I could have handled anything more :) We have finally reached a return to some sort of normalcy around here!

Hello and congrats!! I have triplets but 2 of them are identical. They were also mono mono and 10 weeks preterm. They are all girls 8 years old. In the last 8 years everything I ever thought about identical twins has been shattered by watching my own girls LOL We knew we were having twins at 5 weeks but two weeks later I thought I was miscarring and that's when they saw the third. It has been wonderful and I didn't find it any harder to take care of them then my 2 singletons before them or the one after. I do wish time didn't go so fast though.

Your girls are beautiful!!! Enjoy every minute!!!

Hi there! I have mono mono boys. They are almost 16months now. I had a stressful pregnancy. I became diabetic, my blood pressure went through the roof. The boys had a greatly increased NF level so they told me they could have downs. So I took a great risk and had them tested. The test came back negative, but when I went back in they told me I had developed twin to twin transfusion syndrome, and that was why they had the increase. Thankfully the syndrome ended up resolving by itself and I didn't have to have surgery. Then the doctors told me that one of the twins might have a heart problem, which also resolved (after his birth). I was in a panic my entire pregnancy, and it turned out to be for nothing. My twins were delivered via C-section at 41 weeks. I guess they were cozy in there. One at 6.5 pounds and one at 7.5. Sometimes, I think back on those 9 months and you know what? Ignorance would have been bliss.

I have twin boys and they were mono mono in the same sack and were born also 6 weeks early. They are now 9 years and 6 months. They are very samiliar in personalities and come up with the same results at school. I had them assessed by an educational psycologist who could'nt believe how identical they were when assessing them, and he assessed them seperately.

My twins are 35 and did not find out there were 2 until after the first one was born. NO ultra-sounds back then. They were 6-8 & 5-10#. When they were young, even I had trouble telling them apart, but did not confirm Identical until they became involved the the U of Minnesota Twins Study. What they say about 1 twin feels the others pain can be true.

I do not remember a time when I was not "busy"- when the twins were born, my mom had a stroke and could not talk or feed herself... I was busy with her, the girls and left the bathroom for a sec when my mom fell off the toliet and broke some ribs- I hope you all have it better...just letting you all know that being a 'mom' just never ends, and wanting a mom (from my end) (she died when I was 25... never ends...so, if any of you feel this way...you are not alone... I have 2 other children..4 all together-ages 30.30,29, and 24.
