I had an ultrasound (and they checked for a heartbeat - and heard one) at 10 weeks. Around 14 weeks, I went in for an appointment and they said (judging by 'fundal height') that I measured 21 weeks and again, checked and heard one heart beat. It wasn't until an ultrasound at 20 weeks that we found out there was twins in there!...

Everybody is different but at 6 weeks my OB order an ultrasound for me because my HCG levels were increasing rapidly (one of the signs for twins/multiples) it can also be a sign for a molar pregnancy and other things, so I guess my OB wanted to check that out. The tech saw two hear beats almost immediately. Now I have 20 month old identical twin girls! Good luck!

It's so hard to say. I saw my twins at 7weeks (we weren't sure if I was pregnant). It sounds like your next appt in Nov might be your best bet to see if you're having twins (if you get an u/s then)

6 weeks is a little early for an ultrasound. I had mine at 8 weeks and they were seen then, but after spotting them the first time it was hard seeing them together (all during the same ultrasound). If this is not your first pregnancy, you may get bigger sooner. Best of luck!
