Stupid things people say to parents of twins

well ladies i have identical 4month old boys and i get all the time how are they identical when one has less hair and is fatter that then the other.. arrrrg!!! my lil men were big boys 7lb11oz and 8lb2oz.. but i also get god u have ur hands full i have a 4 yr old girl and a 2 yr old girls my eldest has a few lil problems not walking and talking.. i always get how do u cope i really dont know how to answer that what am i meant to do oh sorry this is to hard can u take 1 back or make montana normal i really hate that when ppl say that it would make things easier if montana was normal.....DEFINE NORMAL my princess has a heart beat and legs and arms and eyes like everyone else just cause she cant do everything we do that dont make her ABNORMAL......

I haven't read all of these but I think it is funny when people ask me if my girls are identical when they have just call one a boy. When clearly they do not look the same. My girls are fratenal.

I have four kids, and people are always asking how old they are so I say ' My oldest son is 8, my girls are 7 year old twins and my youngest is 5.' Then they proceed to say both your girls are 7...were they born in the same year or are they twins ?....hmmm didn't I just say that

My favourite was when my girls were 6weeks we were at dr for their jabs, and an elderly lady said äre they twins? I said yes and she said "but they are not wearin the same hats" it took me an my sister inlaw half an hr to stop giggling.



Now when people ask if they are twins I quite often reply with "No they are 12minutes apart" that really stops people in there tracks lol

i have identical twins, girls, 22 months. my absolute worst thing to hear is aww, what adorable little guys! are they twins? especially if im out with a friend, i just say no, this one is mine, that one is hers. and to hear that having your children close together is just like having kids drives me nuts. uh, no...the oldest is walking, and the youngest is not. do any of you ever get asked about the "secret twin talk" thing? i honestly believe it is just toddler talk, but i always get asked if i can understand mine, like its a foreign language or something!

Diana, my understanding is that b/g twins who look very similar may be half identical - the egg can split before fertilization - so one egg, 2 sperm. The genetic material that determines the sex of your child is different, so b/g twins cannot be truly identical. I get so annoyed when people ask me how I tell my b/g twins (1 who has blue eyes and 1 who has brown eyes, for starters) apart. Well, if I'm having a bad day, I just take their nappies off! From there I'm usually able to work it out!

My boys are now 15 going on 16 and something I really hated was when people would tell me to give them one, because I still had another one left. I would tell them that mine only come together and not seperate. The looks on their faces was just hilarious. Another thing I hated was when people would say that they were glad that they had their kids one by one and were glad that they didn't have twins. Something else I hated was "which one is the good kid and which one is the naughty one?"
Something that really made me laugh was the next story. One day I was walking down the street with my boys in the stroller, when a little girl came up to me to look at the boys. Her mom said "Look they are twins because they are alike" and the little girl said that they didn't look alike (one has brown hair and the other one was pretty fair) and she was right about that. Her mom kept saying that they had to be alike because they were twins without even looking at my kids.
I once had an argument too with an older lady that my kids couldn't be twins because they were not dressed alike. I told her that I preferred it that way and that it was my choice not to dress them alike. She kind of got mad with me so I told her that they were my kids and that eventhough they were born at the same day they were 2 separete individuals too and if they wanted to dress alike later on it was up to them. She walked away shaking her head with my stupidity of not dressing them alike so everyone could see that they were twins. Oh well!!!!

my twin boys are now 22yrs old and reading the coments all you ladies have wrote made me laugh people still cant tell my boys apart but when they were little what joy they are theyve always competed with each other and still do it now but its funny my lads do cross country running ppl laugh cos they always come 1st and 2nd oh what joy lol

I love the husband that says "oh sh** honey, we lost one". That cracked me up. My boys are only 4 1/2 months so I guess I haven't had a chance to actually get tired of the curiosity. I have to admit I did enjoy seeing the looks I would get when I was still pregnant...my belly was 50 inches. When was walking around shopping at 8 months, people would say, "any day now?" When I said, "Oh no we are hoping for at least another month or two!" Sometimes I would share the fact that we were having twins, other times...I just kept going.

Since their birth, my husband loves to push them around. He is very proud of our blessings and says we would have been bored with just one. Folks are very curious, and we do the the hands full comment...I have to agree rather have them be full than MT!

I have fraternal twin girls, one with naturally curly & the other straight. People will still ask is her hair naturally curly or did I give her a perm..who would give their young daughter a perm?People amaze me!

I have 13 mth old b/g twins and he is 6 lbs bigger than her. I love it when people ask if they are twins. I am starting to be smart and stating that I had him first and three months later I had her. I also love it when they ask if they are Identical!!

My favourite is 'who's older'???? Duh???? They were both conceived at the same time so they are the same age...no one is older regardless of who comes out first.

Fun to read, we all have the same story over and over! I once had a Dr. who asked if they are identical. Not only are they a boy and a girl, one has red hair and the other has dark brown! When people say, boy you have your hands full I say "my two are easier than many people's one!"



I like the "not when their naked" comment, I will have to use that!

Ever since my twin girls were born, and we are out and about, it seams like if we are celeberties. We always get a big croud, which can sometimes get annoying. its like havent you seen a twin before. I have to agree with everything all you moms have been saying too. gave me a big laugh! =)

We have a 7 yr old and twin 2 yr olds, and I love when people say wow I don't know how you do it with 3. I can remember when I was pregnant with the twins people would tell me thank God I'm not pregnant with twins I can't imagine what you're going through. Good luck to you and so on and so on. And to tell you the truth I have found the twins to be sometimes easier than our older one. They have someone to entertain/play with them, while our older son didn't. I love all of our boys and I wouldn't trade them for the world!!!!

omg lol so true I am grammy of twins and people always look at my two granddaughters who are dressed alike and say are they twins!!!(now keep in mind they are identical)they look like mirror images I am always tempted to say no not even related just dressed alike but I am too nice for that....

I am pregnant with our first babies! My husband and I always wanted twins, so we were very excited to find out that we were expecting twins! I have found out through this pregnancy that people really say some stupid things. This is one that gets me a little....when they find out that we are expecting to they say, " Oh, I am sorry..." or one more," so, y'all decided to knock it all out at once?" When did people decide that if you have twins that is all that you are going to have??? This experience has taught me to keep my big mouth shut!

I too often get asked for their birth date for each of them when I have just said twin boys and I do think it's just a robotic response of receptionist's that are overwork so try saying you must be having a busy day to ask that question about twins???? I also hated it when the boys were babies strangers would take their dummies out without asking

We have b/g twins and are constantly asked if they are identical!!! They are the third direct set in our family ( identical twin aunt's and half-sisters also), plus, they are the 10th set in the family b/t all the cousins. We as a family love to exchange stories about these types of things,but the above is what I hear the most.

I love the "are they twins" question. My sons are identical (looks), but one wears glasses and is 5 lbs heavier. One is aggressive, and one is passive. One is momma's boy and the other is daddy's boy. The best is the statements: "that must be tough, how did you manage, is it hard, are you broke. LOL

I have 17 months old twin gals, top questions I/we get/got were:

(a) Are they both gals?( even when both of them are wearing frocks!)

(b) Did you always know you were going to have twins?(dah, who knew, I was hardly aware of being pregnant at 8 weeks!!)

(c) Was it a surprise that you delivered twins?( even after I tell people that I knew I was twins from the ultrasound at 12 weeks!!)

(d) Didn't you ever wish that they were one boy and one gal?( as if I had a choice!!)

(e) Are you planning to have more ? ( I just act dumb? I wonder if they know what they are talking about?)

(f) Your twins look lot healthier than other twins I have seen, Is there something special? ( I have no clue, I just give them everything organic is my reply!)

LOL, just cracks me up when people can't stop staring at you and my gals.. Sometimes I like the attention and sometime I just want to be left alone.. On the other hand my husband always loves the attention and he'd politely answer people's silly doubts too...

Both my sets of twins are fraternal, the first set a boy and a girl. The second set 2 boys, one with blue eyes, the other brown, plus plenty of other differences. Yet I still get asked if they are identical!

I have four kids under the age of 4 (my oldest will be 5 in Nov., then a 2yr old and 4mth old twins) and I always get the comment about having my hands full, it is usually followed by "how are you coping?, you know there are lots of places like Salvos etc that can help you if your aren't coping", this comment annoys me the most and I think it is due to my age (I'm 26),it's almost as if because I'm only young that I can't cope with looking after my kids. I wonder if any other people get this?

I also get the "geez, you musn't have a TV!!" my hubby usually responds with "yeah we do and foxtel and the internet!! guess we better stop washing our undies together!!"

My twins are total oposite. Boy is dark and has a brown eyes and hair,and he is bigger , and girl is blond and has a blue eyes. And people always asks us how old are they and are they twins then, as they could be same age and not be a twins.
