Hello, My name is Maranda I recently found out that I'm expecting twins. The doctor informed me Baby A is 8 weeks 6 days and Baby B is 7 weeks that they were measuring 9 days apart, but they both had 2 heartbeats. He said I could of ovulated twice which is very rare but not heard of or that Baby B won't survive because of his size. I just couldn't except that answer so I've set out to find another ob that specializes with this. I would love to hear a story with a positive outcome. I hope someone can shine some light on this for me. Really need some reassuring! Thank you

Absolutely don't believe that one won't survive because of a size difference. Remember u/s is only an ESTIMATE of the size yes, it is more accurate the earlier it is done but still only an estimate. My twins were measuring a week to 9 days difference all through the pregnancy and the one who was estimated to be the smaller one ended up an ounce bigger than the "bigger" one at birth. If both continue to grow and have a strong heartbeat you should not worry.

I agree with the first reply, I think it's too early to even suggest one twin won't survive due to size. Especially if they are di/di twins. I have mo/di twins, and even they were different sizes the whole pregnancy. One of my boys had a single artery umbilical cord, so he always got less nutrients than his brother. And even to this day my boys are identical, but one is noticeably smaller than the other. There are SO many factors that can determine the size of a baby. Getting a second opinion is a good idea.

I can't believe the doctor said just because of their size difference that Baby B wouldn't survive!! I'm 28 weeks pregnant with twin boys and Baby A has ALWAYS measure at least a week smaller... He's now measuring almost 2 weeks smaller based on weight. I think as long as both of your babies are growing and making progress there is nothing to worry about. They are 2 separate babies... they can not be compared.
