My doc and the perinatolist got together and decided that the babies will be born next Wednesday, which I will be 35wks. The peri said they will do better on the outside than on the inside. So the obgyn said he will deliver them next week.. How many people have delivered this early and they're babies were able to go home?? Twin A is 4lbs 1oz and twin B is 4lbs 5oz and he also said that they are in the 10 percentile. I'm just worried about they're well being as far as being born at 35 wks.

I was two days shy of having my twin boys. They were born on 12-13. One was 4lbs 11 oz and the other one was 5 lbs. They had to stay in the hospital for one week - not in nicu either. They kept them for that long due to them not keeping their body temp up. Other than that they didn't have any problems.

Mine were born at 31 weeks. Baby A was 4lbs 10oz and Baby B was 2lbs 13oz. Usually the best incubator is inside your belly so if the peri is saying they will be better off outside, then there is a reason. Your babies will be fine, as soon as they can bf or bottle feed and regulate their own body temp they will be able to go home. Best of luck to you!

hi - my twins were born at 30 weeks ! They were both 3lbs 15 oz so were brilliant weights , they both had 2 have c pap 4 bout 3 weeks and feeding tubes 4 5 weeks - they have both grown into bubbly 2 year olds but we did have a few complications with the 2 nd twin Cobi - re breathing problems and he was admitted about 3 times in his 1st year 2 be put on oxygen but other than that all ok now ! Hope that helps

[deleted account]

My boys were born at 34 weeks 4 days and were very healthy they did have to have a feeding tube for about 3 days till they learned to eat and breath at the same time they came out 1 week after they were born and have been very healthy since they never needed oxygen or anything like that they weighed 5 lbs 7 oz and 5 lbs even when they were born...good luck!

[deleted account]

mine were 34 wks 3 days and they were each 4lbs 14oz and they stayed in the hosp for 2 weeks learning to digest food!

I delivered at 36 weeks 5 days. My girls were big all along. At birth they were 7.5 and 6.4 and they came home with me. We did have trouble with the smaller one wanting to eat but once she got the hang of it she hasn't stopped. I was unable to breastfeed because their suck wasn't strong enough and I couldn't produce. Don't worry your Dr.s are doing what is best. Good luck!

Sannita,
I was put on hospital bedrest at 28 weeks for my cervix. It was decided to induce me at 35 weeks as Twin B (Patrick) had stopped growing at 33 weeks. Twin A (Lily) was 5lbs 1oz and Twin B (Patrick) was 3 lbs 15ozs. They spent 12 days in a Level II NICU establishing feeding and growing patterns (also a couple days until the lights treating Jaundice). Neither required oxygen or intubation - great lungs (I credit that to getting the steroid shots when they first admitted me). Lily had a feeding tube for a couple of days when she was diagnosed with Jaundice at 5 days old - she was sleeping through feedings.

The twins are now almost 20 months corrected (21 actual) and are doing great. Both are in the 50 percentile on all their charts. It wasn't until they were about 4 months (actual) that Patrick finally caught up to his sister. They are about 28 lbs (there is usually a 6 oz difference in their weights) and Patrick is about 2 inches taller than his sister. Both twins are doing great and are hitting most of their milestones on target.

Best of luck to you and your babies!

My guys were born at 35 weeks on the nose. naturally. They actually were able to come home with me and they are doing great. They will be 4 months at the end of the week. The thing is they are always concerned about lung maturity but if you had steroids beforehand they should do fine. Also I was told that the good thing about having twins is that born prematurely they do much better than singletons because they get A LOT of exercise in there...they help each other workout which helps development and survival outside...you should be fine. My last sono was a week before I delivered and they were around 4 12 and 4 13...They were born at 5lbs 4oz and 5lbs 9oz..Now they are 13lbs a piece. Hope this brings you some piece of mind

My twins boys were born at 35+3 days. Jack weighed 6lbs 5ozs and Henry weighed 5lbs 2ozs. They were born by c-section because I started developing pre-eclampsia. Jack had some breathing issues and was in the NICU for 2 wks and Henry just needed to learn to nipple the bottle and came home after a week. They are almost a month old and are doing great. Hang in there, everything will be fine even though its hard to leave your babies in the NICU the nurses are fabulous about their care and having you help as much as possible.

My twin girls were born at 36 1/2 weeks weighing 6lbs 3oz and 5lbs 9oz. They were on monitors for about a week and feeding tubes. They were in the hospital for 2 weeks. I was only in the hospital for 3 as I had a C-Section. We were to have a C-Section on Jan 8th but Baby B was weighing in at 4.8lbs and not getting enough blood flow that I had to have them the day I went for my OB visit... what a shocker.

They should have been born Dec 24th as I had the ultrasound on the 23rd, but OB did not get results until I told him what the Tech said at Ultrasound appt when I saw OB on 29th, twins were born on the 30th. My due date was actually 21st of Jan.

I just had my twins two weeks ago today. They were at 36 weeks, 6 days and we had them by unplanned c-section. They were both perfectly healthy and other than a little trouble with bilirubin levels we had no trouble at all. They were 7 pounds, 6 ounces for my son (baby B) and 5 pounds, 15 1/2 ounces for my daughter.

I had my twins at 37 weeks. They were in the hospital for 5 days because of jaundice and they were losing weight. But were Baby A was 4lbs 14OZ and baby b was 4lbs 15oz. They came home just a little above 4 but had no complications and never had to be in the NICU. I had a natural delivery so thats a possibility too! I can't imagine recovering from a c-section and coming home to infant twins! hopefully your doctor will allow you to try it. but everything will work out and good luck!

my girls were born Feb1, at 33 weeks weighing 3lbs10ounces and 4lbs12 ounces (TTTS), the smaller twin was able to come home first after 3 and a half weeks in the hospital and the bigger one was able to come home after almost 6 weeks she was breach had to be pulled out, since she had a harder delivery she had a bit of catching up to do.

HI my twin boys were delivered onthe 25th March which made them 35wks to the day when they were born by c section, 1 min apart. They are doing well, we had some small issues, when first born there blood sugar levels werent stable and there internal tempatures were very low, but they didn't need specail care, so stayed with me from the start, they just needed lots of feeding and an incubator to sleep in for a while, also we had a few feeding problems with them being so tired they slept more then they should and so needed help gaining a bit of strength and regaining there birthweight, having said that they are a month old today, and are absolutly fine, except those dam dummy's wont stay in there mouths!! haha

My girls were born at 35 weeks and did well with breathing. They had a little trouble maintaining their glucose for the first 2 days and also maintaining their weight for the first 3 weeks. (they were TTTS and baby A (Alyssa) was at one point 1lb 14oz larger in utero, so I think Baby B (Emily) will most likely be smaller) They were 5lb 4oz and 4lb 6oz, when we left the hospital they were 4lb 14oz and 4lbs. We all 3 left the hospital together 4 days later. My smallest girl got as small as 3lb 12oz, any more weight loss and they were going to put her back in the hospital but finally they starting putting on weight and are somewhat small for their age, but at 7yr old they are 42 and 41lbs.

Hi, I had twin girls at 34 weeks and 6 days. They did not need any oxygen at birth. Baby A was 5lb8oz and baby B was 4lb11oz. They stayed in the NICU for first 24 hours and were released to the well baby nursery while i recovered from the C section. 8 hours later they took baby B back to the NICU due to not keeping her temp up. They took the other one back to the NICU because she did not have the energy to eat right. They were very healthy just a little too small. They were in the NICU for about 2 weeks. Once they were able to nipple every feeding and keep their temp steady they were able to come home. All babies are different. But i am sure your babies will be just fine. Good Luck!

Mine were born at 35 weeks by their own design! My water broke and there you go. MIne turned out great. I think it is good to have a planned birth. Mine never even went to the NICU and that was 18 years ago. But mine were bigger than your babies. 5 lb 9 oz and 6 lbs 4 oz. I can't believe the perinatologist wants them out early!

[deleted account]

My twins were born at 33 weeks. One was 6 lbs and the other was just barely 3 lbs.

One needed some oxygen and the other just had a bit of trouble eating. With the smaller twin the ended up doing an emergency c-section. They got released to go home before the drs cleared me to go home. In September they will be 4 yrs old. You are in our prayers, and remeber to have faith.

My boys Connor and Nicholas were born at 35 wks and they were 5lbs. 5oz. and 4lbs 11oz. They did really well. Connor was able to stay with me in the recovery room and Nich went to the NICU because he would not feed. Nich stayed in the NICU for two weeks, which was so hard since me and Connor went home after a week, but trust your insincts and your doctors judgement. If you feel that your babies are not ready then tell your doctor that. I actually stood up and said that i did not want to keep taking meds to keep me from going into labor, I felt that it was doing more harm then good. I made the right decision and you will too. Hang in there and things will be fine! Good luck!

My twins are now 14 yrs old. I remember the weeks right before I had them. I couldnt have them fast enough. I had major heart burn and felt like my bladder was going to explosed every second of the day. I had my twins on my 37th week. My son weighed 7lbs 7ozs and my daughter was 7lbs 5ozs. My doctor said I was very lucky that I carried them as far as I did. I had 2 other child before having the twins and my first baby was 8lbs 7ozs and my second only 6lbs 3 ozs. So yes big twins. I watched what I ate and kept walking. I use to exercise alot before I got pregnant so doctor said keep it going in moderation. Words of advice it does get better moms. They get bigger and yes you do have other problems but nothing like having healthy babies that you see keep growing. ONE WORD OF ADVICE MY MOM GAVE..."When your day is running stressful, when your little ones lay down to sleep, stop take a deep breath and look at how peaceful they look". I had to do that many times..

My boys were born at 35 weeks, in the NICU for a week and a half...you would never know any of that by looking at them now. They too were small... 20th%...now they are three and they are growing like weeds. The oldest twin is now 75th% and the younger twin is 50th% ( even though they are only a pound and a half apart). The only other complication was a little jaundice. That's it! Good luck to you and your babies will be beautiful!

My babies were born @ 36 weeks. The ultrasound that we had determined that they would be somewhere near 5 pounds however when they were born twin a (my daughter) weighed 5lbs.11oz and twin b (my son) weighed 7lbs. They were both very healthy and came home with me after a few days. My son experienced jaundice and had to be under the lights for the first week or so but we got those delivered to our house.

I hope all goes well for you!

My twin girls were born at 36 1/2 weeks. Baby A was 5lbs. 9 oz. and Baby B was 6lbs. 10oz. Both girls had jaundice but other than that they were fine. Everyone can tell you their stories but you will not know if you babies will have any health related issues until they are born. I'm sure they will be fine though. I know I worried a lot about my girls' health before they were born, every mom does, i'm sure. Even if there are any complications, i'm sure they can be handled by the hospital staff. So try not to worry and enjoy your last day of freedom. Pretty soon you will be very busy!:)

My twins were born at 35 weeks and Twin A was 4lb 13oz and Twin B was 4lb 1oz, both were in the NICU for about a mounth and came home togther. Had no real problems but just had to keep body temp normal and eat from a bottle or from me. Now they are 15m old and walking a tryen to talk, still small but they don't let that stop them. Most babies that are born at 35 weeks do really well and if they have to stay in the NICU it's not the end of the wourld, even though it my feel like it. The NICU will take really good care of your babies if needed.

I had my boys at 35wks 4days and they weighed in at 4# 5oz and 4# 6.9oz. They didn't require oxygen but they were in the NICU for 7days because I delivered C-section Twin A James had some fluid in his lungs, and the cord was wrapped around him several times. Twin B Ethan was fine nothing wrong just monitered and made sure they did ok eating, They got to come home on the 10th day after being born. I can say after it is hard to leave but some hospitals like were I had mine offered rooms to stay in for free to be close to the babies until you go home. This was as long as the rooms were not full with other moms or mommies to be.

My twins were born at 36 weeks. They were estimated to be between 4 and 5 lbs and one was 5lbs 2 oz and the other was 4lbs 15 oz. They were both checked over in the NICU observation unit and were brought to me after about an hour. They both checked out fine. My younger twin was treated for jaundice and we all would have went home after a week if it hadn't been for some problems with holding their temperatures. It was pretty cold in the hospital and because they couldn't keep warm - they tired out and had problems eating. Nothing too serious. My older twin came home at 3 weeks and my older twin came home at 4 weeks.

They will be just fine. I was in the same boat. It was better for them to be born than for me to stay pregnant with them any longer.

My boys were born at 34 weeks. I developed high blood pressure and had an emergency c section both babies were code pink when they came out. Alex was 4 lbs 14 oz and Brandon 5lbs 7 oz. Brandon was on a ventilator for two days. Most of their first few days were a blur, unfortunately I was re-hospitalized 4 days later because I developed Bells palsy and blood pressure shot way up ( they thought I had a stroke). I took Brandon home 16 days later and Alex 19 days. The nurses and doctors in the NICU are very helpful and know what they are doing, take the time to heal and prepare if they do have to stay is my advice.

My twins were born at 34 wks. The doctors told me that I needed to have an C-Section due to the fact that one twin was taking all the food away from the other. I was told by the dr.'s that they both looked like they were around 4-5lbs. Do not go by weight I have heard from numerous people the weight is not what matters. Twin A was 4lbs 1 oz. Twin B was 2 lbs 8 ounces and alot longer than Twin A. Twin B he had to fight for food and was very very strong. Nothing needed to assist him. Twin B needed to get his weight up. He also had a jaunice blanket put on for 1/2 day before he came home. He stayed in the hospital for 3 wks. Twin A he had some sleep apnea spells. Twin A stayed in the Hospital for almost 3 wks. I took Twin A home 2 days before Twin B. Now there both very healthy. Twin B hardly ever gets sick. Twin A when he gets a cold it hits him harder. There both very strong and taller than some of the other boys in there Kindergarten class. Good Luck. God Bless.

Don't go by weight. The amnio should tell if their lungs are good. The ultrasounds said my twins were both right at 4 lbs, but they were 4lbs 12oz and 4 lbs 14 oz. They were bearly 36 wks. I actually spent more time in the hospital with my single.

My twin boys were born at 37 weeks. I know that is longer than yours, but my doc was sure they were fine. Doc and I were expecting 4 1/2 to 5 pound babies.... NOT! My boys weighed in at 7lb 6oz (baby A) and 6lb 9oz (baby B). They were perfectly healthy baby boys. They went home when I did. My biggest recommendation is Prayer. It works! God bless, and I hope your twins bring you as much joy as mine have for us.

My twins were born six weeks early at 33 weeks six days. My daughter was born 3 pounds 12 ounces, and my son was born 4 pounds 10 ounces. My son was born with underdeveloped lungs, but after a long eight days after they were born he was able to come home. My daughter had weight gain problems and four days after her brother came home she was also able to join us. they did also have a bit of jaundice.

Now at nearly 10 and a half months my daughter is almost 19 pounds and my son is almost 20 pounds. The only long term issues so far of their prematurity is the fact my daughter has to have glasses to correct her eyes, and my son gets hit harder when they get sick. he may have asthma when they get older, but we'll get that checked out at a later time. My son was discharged at a weight of four pounds 8 ounces and my daughter was discharged at a weight of four pounds 1 ounce. Because of that she had to have special formula for a few days, but both are doing well now.

I went into labor at 19 weeks, they placed a cerclage, put me on medication to stop some of the contractions, and put me on hospital bed rest. My water broke at 33 weeks and 4 days. The baby whose sack broke was totally fine, 4lbs 5oz, the other one needed oxygen assistance for a couple of days and feeding tube assistance for a week and a half, 4lb 4oz. Both babies were able to go home after 2 weeks. Did they say why they wanted to deliver them early?

Mine were born at 34 weeks.  Each weighed 4lbs.  Both had to have feeding tubes, but that was it.  No oxygen.  No jaundice.  No other complications.  They spent 2 weeks learning to feed and then were released.  Your babies will be just fine!  My docs decided too, that the best thing for my babies, since they were growth restricted, was to get them out so they could get more nutrients outside of the womb.  Sounds like yours are in the same boat.  No worries...good luck and get ready for the ride  :)

Mine were born at the end of 35 weeks. Twin A was 5lbs 13 oz and her only complication was jaundice. She was in the NICU for 6 days. Twin B was 5lbs 4oz. She had serious reflux due to an underdeveloped sphincter (sp?)...she would drop her heart rate (had a few episodes) and was sent home on an apnea monitor on my insistance. She never had any episodes at home. I think this would have happened even if she made it to 37 weeks. She was in the NICU for 10 days. They are now 10 mos old and happy and healthy as can be! They are little people...Twin A is in the 10th percentile and Twin B is below the curve completely...it is is there genes though...my husband is from a family of little people MIL, SIL, and FIL are lucky if they are 5 ft. They are growing fine and meeting all of their milestones on time if not early...they are just little.

If your doctors recommend having them is the thing to do then it is....Good luck to you and enjoy those early days when they sleep all the time...it doesn't last!

My twins were born at 37 and a half weeks.  My doctor told me that it was long enough time.  he didn't want me to go earlier! The longer in my belly the healthier the would be when they came out.  So we had a scheduled c-section b/c the didn't want to come out, ( i guess they got used to being inside)  My babies did so good that they didn't even have to be checked out in the nicu.  My daughter was 5lbs 5oz, and my son was 6lbs 6oz, and they went home on time.
