Hi everyone,
I have been sitting here in absolute hysterical laughter at the postings and the dumbest things people say! I really needed a good laugh today and nearly fell off my seat doing so!
I have since my last posting been thinking about other comments made from people...when pregnant, such as "wow, you had them close, didnt you (9 minutes apart)" or "gosh, WHY did you chose to have two so close?" or the all time idiotic comment..."Did you plan on having twins?"
I must admit the trips out with the kids was time consuming, being stopped nonstop by people who were twins, knew of twins or thought having twins sounded like fun!
Worst still was in those days there was NO mother rooms in the shopping centre and I had to breast feed one of the babies (doing so without showing anything) but I had a couple old biddies accuse me of "being a dirty bitch" and the men would be "lusting" after me...
You cant help what people say but all you can do is ignore them or accidently (of course) give their ankles a nice tap with the wheels from that nice big heavy double pushchair you are dragging around with you!
have a groovy day ladies and rememer, you are truly priceless.

When ever I do out I dress my girls the same and then they will ask me if one is a girl and one is a boy when they are both wearing pink.
Or they will ask me if they are twins.

One day my husband was with me and heard this comment...(he is a butcher by trade) his retort which sent me into hysterical laughter was..No way, its the butcher's kids.
My husband used the same line! He drives for Borden and likes to tell everyone I had the milk man's babies!

That is funny... LOL Never thought people will ask that with boy/girl twins... I mean how can they be identical with different genders? hihi When my twin boys were smaller, I often got the question are they girls, even when wearing football outfits with caps. duh! I heard the double trouble a lot and the phrase you must have your hands full hey. I take it with humor. I would not have it any other way, love my twins!

I have twin girls. Even when they are both dressed in pink, have hair clips and earrings, people would still ask "boy and girl?" And yes, it is quite annoying to hear people say, "it could have been better if you have boy and girl twins". No offense to those who have B/G twins, i'm sure they're wonderful to have. But my point is my girls are a wonderful blessing from God and I wouldn't have it any other way.

I have twin girls 6 yrs old now. One is 6 inches taller and 18lbs more. I still hear -Are they identical? There is another kind of twin. Mirror twins. It is when they look identical, but oppisite markings ( like they are looking in the mirror).

well actually
"Researchers have discovered that there is actually a third type of twin, semi-identical. Really. Without getting too terribly technical, fraternal twins are two eggs that are fertilized by two sperm, identical twins are one egg that is fertilized by one sperm and then the egg splits and semi-identical twins are created when two different sperm fertilize one egg. It is very very rare, but possible. This means that while from a single egg you could get boy/girl twins."
so yes you could have ID B/G twins lol

I get both comments - 'are they identical?' and 'oh but they dont look alike - how can they be twins??' and curious questions like ' ive heard that if one cries then so does the other' or ' if one falls sick then the other one also gets sick' is this true??? - but ofcourse - if one toddler is crying then the other one is most likely to get disturbed and start crying. and as to falling sick at the same time, since the 2 live under the same roof and spend most of the time together, when one falls sick it is very easy for the other one to catch the infection.. :)
i just think that ppl without twins/multiples are just curious...but my twin pram does attact a lot of looks i must say

Once when my girls were about a year old I took them shopping, one in a pink dress and one in an aqua green dress. This woman comes up to me and says "Oh, a boy and a girl. How nice".

I just think people don't know what else to say, that's what I want to believe anyway. It is such a dumb question, especially when they are dressed the same, look the same, and are exactly the same size. Also, I always run into someone who is a twin, knows a twin, it's just never ending!

My boy/girl twins are now nearly 11 years old (in June). They were my easiest babies. They pretty much slept, ate, and needed diapers changed around the same time. Even now, they play together quite nicely. Don't let those silly people out there get to you. Enjoy you pregnancy and every moment there after. God bless! ~Karen

Hi, I get this all the time as well. The funniest thing said to me was while I was at the grocery store right after they got out of the hospital. This guy comes up to me and said you sure did have them close together. I replied 2 minutes to be exact, you can't get any closer.

I had an elderly gentleman meanly argue that my fraternal boys were not twins since they didn't look alike - one has blond hair/blue eyes and the other has brown hair/brown eyes. I calmly told him to tell that to my uterus - it will never be the same. He quickly ran away! Some people are so silly!

My husband was at the mall one day and a lady said to him, "Man, god sure got you didn't he." He was speechless and usually he can come back with something quick. He was so mad that someone could even say that. When he told me about it later...I couldn't believe it either. Some people are just so rude.

I don't know why complete strangers feel it necessary to stop you and say things you've heard 100 times. Although I have fraternal twin boys, their carseats are the exact same and they are often dressed in similar outfits and people always ask if they're twins. Duh, what do you think? No we're just babysitting the neighbor's kid who's exactly the same age, with the same car seat, same clothes- oh and I happen to have a double stroller that matches both car seats! GEEZ, why can't people just smile and keep walking?

Hi ladies,
I just wanted to say that this has been going on for years...I had my fraternal twins, Kate and Jordan in 1993.
We would be out shopping, at the park etc..people would constantly say the stupidiest things...for instance, "Are they twins?" "They cant be twins, they are a boy and a girl!" "oh they are so cute, you are so lucky, TWO LITTLE girls...when our son Jordan would be in blue jeans, blue tee shirt and sneakers"....or my favourite...wow TWINS, do you have any others?"..."my husband used to retort..yeah yeah, we left them at home with the triplets, quads and quintuplets.
The only comments I found truly hurtful were from people who took it upon themselves to tell me they thought my husband couldnt possibly be the father of our twins.
He is of Italian/English Heritage, has red hair, olive toned skin and green eyes. I am of Jewish/English heritage, with Brunette hair, with Hazel eyes..when the twins were born, their heritage really came out in their features...KATE who had pure white blonde straight hair, blue eyed and VERY fair skin. while her brother JORDAN popped out with olive skin, black curly hair and green eyed. They were like chalk and cheese....People who would constantly stop us to look at them and ask that horrible question. One day my husband was with me and heard this comment...(he is a butcher by trade) his retort which sent me into hysterical laughter was..No way, its the butcher's kids.
So dont worry ladies, there are some dumb people out there. Oh yes, now my twins are nearly 16, They are great kids, are different in personalities but in some ways very alike, mannerisms, thoughts, speech etc.I dont know how many times, I have heard the comment...oh we thought Jordan and his 13 year old brother Andrew who is the same height, similiar looks and with deep brown toffee coloured curly hair are considered the twins! You cant win.!! lol
have a great day ladies!
