I'm so tired of people approaching me and telling me that I've got my hands full when they see my twins...or looking at two babies wearing pink and asking if they are both girls. DUH!!! What kind of responses do you give?

I have boy/girl twins also and like most others that have replied I always dressed them in Gender appropriate clothing. I was frequently asked were they identical and after a few months of this I got fed up and used to answer "no, one has a penis". That used to shut people up. What used to really annoy me was that people used to absolutely gush over the twins but ignore their gorgeous 17-months older brother.

Its just stupidity, and somtimes, you need to factor in, with having more than one the same age, it boggles people, its like there brain just stops, and theyre so amazed, that they just can't help it. It'll get better. I took my little boy out the other day in a BLUE sleeper, with FOOTBALLS on it, and someone was like "oh so cute, how old is she!" ...yea. Its just the nature of the beast. You sort of just have to say, yes, they're both female, and theyre very fond of pink! lol.

lol I love all the responses on here. My girls are 13 months old - and they are identical.

I had a really bad day a while back and someone asked me if they were twins, and i anwsered in a hurray "yes", and then she asked if they were born at the same time, and I just gave her this look, and then I said "seriously, are you honestly asking that?".

My favorite though, is when people ask if I used fertility treatments, I'm 22 and look it, so I usually tell them they are being extremely rude, and that isnt an appropriate question. Just be honest... I had have alot of people tell me that my girls DONT look alike, which 99% of the people that know would disagree with that statement. Thats the only one that ticks me off.... havent figured out what to say to that yet.

Tell me about it, the are they natural question bugs. Like it is any of their business. Either way we are blessed, I still do not get why they want to know. Even before I had twins and I saw another with them it would never cross my mind to ask that.

I was at Bath & Body Works one day with my identical twin boys (dressed alike and in a double stroller) and my 12yr. old DD, when a lady looked at them and said "Awww, are they twins?" Without even thinking, I answered "Nope. This one is 2 yrs. old and a midget, and this one is 10 months old. I just dress them exactly alike for fun." She looked completely horrified....and then I noticed that she was pregnant. I felt horrible for being such a snot, and apologized. lol
Last week, my DD and I were at Wal-Mart and we were stopped again by someone asking us if they boys were twins....again they were dressed exactly alike and in the double stroller. I just looked at her and said, "Nope. This one is mine, and this one is hers." My daughter is 12! The look on her face was priceless, and I laughed so hard as we were walking away that I almost wet my pants. My husband applauded me and suggested that I should have told her that the baby that I'm carrying is someone else's too! he he he

I used to get those comments ALL the time, I have fraternal twin girls and would dress them in pink when we went out and finally my husband said, "NO, I just dress my boy in pink." I don't mind the "Are they twins?" question now that they are older and look like siblings rather than twins, but the one question that STILL aggravates the daylights out of me is "Are they natural?"

I mean really, are people really that STUPID??? God help the world if they are :)

I appreciate the people who are friendly enough to start a conversation. We've gotten used to the attention. I don't think people's intentions are to irritate me. In a society were rudeness is most common, an off the wall comment with the intentions of kindness is far more welcome than the alternative.

I HATE the stupid questions! I get "Are they twins" ALLLLLLLLL the time and it drives me crazy! Especially when they have outfits on that say "if you think I am cute, you should see my twin; My twin did it; etc" My answer depends on my mood... good mood=yes they are; sarcastic mood=no they are 6 months apart; bad mood=no they are triplets, but if you cant see the 3rd you might want to get your eyes checked. I cant even tell you all of the stupid questions I have gotten! I have fraternal twin girls are 2 now. I ALWAYS have them in pick/purple and I get the comment "OMG how lucky that you had a boy and a girl" what?? Oh thats right... I am trying to make my little boy gay, so starting him REALLY early. LoL I have people that argue with me about if they are identical or not... one has brown hair, blue eyes, chubby face and the other has red hair, green eyes, and a thinner face. They do not look identical at all, but people with argue with me about it! I actually had one lady tell me that I needed to find a new doctor because he/she didnt know what they were talking about when they told me that they were fraternal. I was in a really pissy mood and told her that she needed a new eye doctor because she was blind if she couldnt see the difference! Then I walked away. DRIVES ME CRAZY! Do I have my hands full? Yep, but I wouldnt trade it! I get the "are they natural question alot and of course the personal questions that I dont want to tell some stranger the answer... I want to make a shirt that says

Yes they are twins

Yes they are girls

No they are not Identical

Any other questions??? $20 a question!

(Hey! twins aren't cheap!)

This was my most awful response. But when in Walmart, holding 5 month-old screaming twins I said, at the end of my rope I was asked, "Awww, are they twins???" I felt like screaming ... so I calmly looked at the person and said "Well, they were actually triplets, but I couldn't afford to keep one, so I gave her away." Needless-to-say I wasn't proud of my response, but they left me alone.

I recall a situation where I had my twin girls dressed in blue-lacy dresses, and a woman telling me how cute my boys were. Who is gonna dress their boys in blue lacy dresses? Silly ... silly people.

And I absolutely hate it when I'm told, "Oh, you've got double trouble" ... I always correct them and say, "I've got a double blessing and thank God everyday for them."

My girls are identical red-heads, and are now 16. And I still thank God for my double blessing.

I got very tired of the comments about my twins. I never dressed mine alike. They are boy/girl twins. Yes, my hands are full. I like it that way. No, they are not identical, the boy has something the girl doesn't have. Yes, I am glad they are mine and not yours. I got so tired of the same comments all the time. One of the silliest ones was when people would ask me if they are twins. DUH!! Two babies with one mother that look a lot alike. How crazy can some people be??!!!!

i also get the ohh are they twins??? obviously they are their only 9 months old n the certainly dont look like they are 9 months apart!!!
then the next one is are they natural???? my reply is "no their made out of plastic!"
n the are they identical question everyone seems to think they look the same how ever 1 is quite bigger then the other they have different shaped faces and one has a slightly darker skin tone so to me they look completely different!!!

When my girls were 12, they were still identical, we were in a mall and a sales woman asked them if they were twins. My oldest (by 10 minutes that is) looked at her and with a very straight face said: " We both have separate parents.". The shock on the womans face was priceless. We laughed all the way home!

Stupid questions won't stop but people don't realize they are stupid. They are just commenting on our beautiful and wondrous twins and don't know what else to say. Just smile and walk away.

Ladies, I so appreciate the comments and great stories. Sometimes conversations such as this brings out the best laughs. To those of you who are at the beginning of this journey, I must say that you truly are blessed, no matter how hectic and hairy things will get for you. To those who have gone through this journey before us, I say thank you for your support and encouragement. To all who are going through this journey along with me, I say thanks for being there to share in the trials and the joys of motherhood of multiples. Nobody really knows what we are going through unless they have been there themselves. God has truly blessed us!!!

You just have to smile. They mean well. You get a lot of attention when you have twins, which is cool sometimes but most the time you just want to get your grocery shopping done and don't want to talk to someone on every isle. I nursed my twins till they were 16 months old it can be done they are three now and I would still be doing it if not for incorrect advice from a pediactric dentist.(Nursing twins was the best diet I have ever been on)

If someone says that, I reply, "at least I'm pregnant, what's your excuse?!" That shuts em up. I have identical nearly 3 year old twin girls and had those comments myself but also the classic one nof "Are they twins"!!!!!! A friend of mine replied with "no they were born a fortnight apart..." To the hands full I agree but add in "Yip got my hands full but I also get twice the hugs and kisses"..... My girls are either playing dressup and babies, or with trucks and diggers in the sandpit.... but they look like girls anytime so I have been mystified as to why I get asked if they are boys

The other question I HATED was when they were born "How do you know who is who" and now we get the classic "how can you be sure you haven't got them mixed when they were younger and are now calling them by their wrong names"..... Jorja has always been 600 - 700kgs heavier than Kassie and Kassie has s slightly narrower face... we know the difference!!!

According to Discovery channel and medical websites, most identical twins are slightly different, DNA is the same but it is the mitochondrial DNA that creats the differences. They have exactly the same chromosomes, they have a perfect resemblance and are always of the same gender, except in extremely rare cases of chromosomal defect.

We are all just very blessed to have these special kids, and multiples are very special

People would say "Gawd - You're Huge" as if I didn't already know that fact. My response was usually - "Yes I do have a mirror but thanks for pointing that out to me in front of everyone" Most times those people would just turn pink in the face and walk away... I guess towards the end of my pregancy I had lost all patience with people stating the obvious - LOL!

I agree about people saying that you have your hands full. Expecially when it is obvious when I am out alone with them and one is going one way and the other another. But I think the one that bothered me the most was when they were newborns people would ask if they are twins and they both looked like newborns. Granted one was 2 pounds bigger but it was obvious that they both were newborns. Then no matter what I had them dressed in they would ask if they were boys. Even if they had on shirts that said "Thank Heaven for Little Boys". Then there is the question as they are looking at them if they are identical (one is blond and one is brunette).

A couple of times I wanted to say no they aren't twins and point to the littlest one and say that he is a year older.

They are 5 years old now and granted they are such a size difference people automatically think they are a year apart. Okay I'll give to them now because there is about 3 inches and 5 lbs difference, but not when they were babies.

But if I say they are both 5 years old. They ask "Really?"
