Our Dr said we could start anytime we wanted to at their 4 month appt but there was no hurry cause they are gaining weight fine. We are dreading starting cause the girls are doing so well on formula. When did you start cereal?

I started my girls at 4 months. The doctor recommended it so the smaller baby would catch up to the bigger one. Now at 8 months they are eating everything and the smaller baby is still smaller. They were 6lbs3oz and 4lbs12oz at birth. Now they are 14lb10oz and 15lb8oz. So it didn't really make the smaller baby catch up.

My girls are 3 months old and I started giving them a little bit of cereal a few weeks ago and it has really helped them sleep longer at night time. I make it really runny and only give them a few spoonfulls but I find it really has helped. If your babies are sleeping well at night and are gaining weight well I wouldn't stress about starting too soon.

we started at about 4 months putting cereal in the bottles at night. We used the Dr. Browns bottles they helped with the gas and they have a y nipple so you can put cereal in the bottle and it comes out easier. We did that for a couple of weeks and then started cereal in the morning and evening and then after about 1 week we started with bananas mashed in with the cereal. They loved that, I got in the habbit of making my own fresh fruit and veggies by pureeing and freezing. Once they started eating more they were more satisfied, formula alone wasn't enough for them they were hungry. Everyone has an oppinoin on when to start but it is different with everyone you can see as you go and try when you find they are more fussy and not full enough with the milk. You will know! Good luck

I've started cereal just a week ago. My boys are 4 1/2 mths old. I found the formula wasnt cutting it anymore. I'm only giving a very little amount at night around 6ish. 1/2 oz of cereal to about an oz of formula and they only have about 6-8 little bites of it. Only because at ngiht they would eat 3 bottles in about 4 hours! I had to start them!

Really, you dont have to start them until they are 6mths. If you find they are plenty satisfied with the formula, stick with the formula! Theres no need for cereal if they are getting enough from their formula. You'll know when to start them. You'll notice a big difference in their eating habbits. Mine were at night. They went from sleeping all nght to getting up once, then twice then wanting to eat 3 bottles before they even went to bed!

You'll know when its right!
Good luck!
