I belong to a baby/mother group and another gal has not vaccinated thinks her girls have the chicken poxs. Avriel has been around them for the last 2 days so she's probably already exposed. But I'm a little worried because they also just got back from the Dominican and wonder if it's something they got there. The red pots started on her 7 month old 1st now her 19 month old has it and they say it all the typical symptoms of the the chicken poxs. So, I was wondering if I should take Avriel down to play again so she can get the poxs over and done with. I researched the poxs on the Internet and they say the younger the better. The are even giving vaccinates at 6 months to kids.

The more Avriel is around the chicken pox kids, the worse case of them she is going to get!!! She's already been exposed, chicken pox are most contagious when you don't even know you have it...before the pox even show. The incubation period is something like 21 days. So it may be another week or so before/if Avriel shows any signs of chicken pox.

I think I would wait to verify they are chicken pox. and I would probably wait until the child was at least 1, maybe even 2.

I personally wouldn't do it unless a doctor has confirmed that it's pox.

Also, I see that your daughter is 6 months. I personally wouldn't do it that young but I know several moms who have and they said it was easy because their kids couldn't scratch yet.

So it's really just up to you. I think it would be fine but I would *personally* wait until closer to 10 months. But then, I know plenty of unvaccinating moms and there tend to be pox parties for a couple months every year or two. But if you don't know a lot of unvaccinating moms, this might be your only chance any time soon.
