I was going to just sit back and see what happens with this group since there has been so little activity, but when I was perusing through some posts I found this book and decided it would be a good choice for August. I have heard that it is "Laugh Out Loud" funny, but also has sorrow, pain and joy.

The Tower, The Zoo, and the Tortoise by Julia Stuart

Description from Amazon:

Set in the popular tourist attraction in present-day London, The Tower, the Zoo, and the Tortoise is an exquisite story of love, loss, and a one-hundred-eighty-one-year-old pet.

Balthazar Jones has lived and worked in the Tower of London for the past eight years. Being a Beefeater is no easy job, and when Balthazar is tasked with setting up an elaborate menagerie of the many exotic animals gifted to the Queen, life at the Tower gets all the more interesting. Penguins escape, giraffes go missing, and the Komodo dragon sends innocent tourists running for their lives. Still, that chaos is nothing compared to what happens when his wife, Hebe, makes a surprise announcement. What’s a Beefeater to do?

Sounds like a fun book.. and in answer to your last request for response: I really appreciate this group. I might not make the time to get on and chat a lot, but I have read almost all of the books posted and have enjoyed most of them. They get me thinking and often lead me to new authors who I then read more. I will try harder to be an active participant and a conversation starter :)
