I just read French Kids Eat Everything. It was interesting, and I'd have to agree with the author's assessment that American parents enable their kids to be picky eaters. At least after reading this I know I did. Anyone else read this yet? What's your take on it?

I haven't read French Kids Eat Everything, but I know for a fact that it isn't entirely true. They definitely have a more varied palette than American kids, less fast food, but they are kids and they don't like some things or due to smell or appearance are afraid to try them. My grandson used to eat anything we put in his mouth when he was little, now, not so much. He has a dozen favorites and seldom do you get him to diverge. My son was the same way. He always managed to eat enough to be strong and healthy, especially since I kept lots of fruits and finger veggies around. But both of us were cookie freaks and that hasn't changed much now that he's grown. (But I digress.) I used to worry that Matt wasn't getting enough to eat, but our Doctor said he will eat as much as he needs and not to worry. At least I don't make some of the things my mom made me eat: breaded tomatoes (can you say smushed brain), fried okra (it has hair, people), or liver and onions (major stink). Ick.
