I love Movie Books

I enjoy reading books that also have a movie or books that movies were based on just to compare. Pretty much every time the books are better, but every now and then the movie will take a different twist to the book and it works better. I just finished "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" and I'm dying to see the movie July 15. The Harry Potter movies do a really good job in keeping with the spirit of the book, they don't do a lot of ad lib.

I have read all the Twilight books and so far the movies have not been impressive. I was thoroughly dissapointed with Eclipse because they changed a lot of my favorite parts of the book or left out a lot of scenes that I was waiting to see on the big screen.

Recently I also watched "Water for Elephants" I read that book sometime last year and liked it. I really liked the movie version, I think it did the book justice, even though it didn't really go into the depth of some of the relationships of the characters, it still made sense.

If I read the book a long time ago I enjoy th emovie more than if I recently read the book. I am hoping that I can actually watch the most recent Harry Potter since I read the book many years ago!

Funny this thread just came up because I took my son & nephew to see Diary of a Wimpy Kid yesterday! In all honesty, I did like the movie better. It did bring the book to life, but I can't compare Wimpy Kid to other book-movies. I personally enjoyed the Twilight books way more than the movies. I thought the New Moon movie downright stunk! However, for some of the classics, the movie truly enhanced the book-gave more clarity, and better comprehension. Gone With the Wind, Jane Eyre, Pride & Prejudice are 3 examples where I did like the book, but loved the movie even more. And one from my childhood-all time favorite movie book: Charlie & The Chocolate factory! I can't believe it is a 35+ year old movie now and love watching it with my 6 year old. Gotta find the book now!

i'm a pain in the butt to watch movies with if i have already read the book. i'm constantly getting bent outta shape and insisting "that's NOT how it happened in the book!!", "they just left out one of the very best parts!!".........stuff like that all the way through the movie. especially if it's a movie made from a stephen king novel.

If I read the book I do not see the movie unless my family insists I go with them. I am just too critical of the movies. They leave out so much detail and take too many liberties with the story lines. The only movies that I have really enjoyed based on books are the Narnia ones....
