I am the mother of two young children and the co-founder of In This Together Media. We publish great books about real girls. Right now, we have two fantastic books out for middle-grade children.
(1) Soccer Sisters: Lily Out of Bounds by Andrea Montalbano -- Montalbano will be on The Today Show tomorrow, Dec. 4th, to talk about this new book series.
(2) Mrs. Claus and The School of Christmas Spirit by Rebecca Munsterer. This is an adorable Christmas tale that focuses on Mrs. Claus and a wonderful little girl named Kat McGee.
I think your daughter would love them both!
You can read more here www.inthistogethermedia.com.
How about the Black Stallion series by Walter Farley? This was one of my favorites when I was younger. Here are some more suggestions:
Charlotte's Web by E.B. White
The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett
The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe (Chronicles of Narnia, #1) by C.S. Lewis
Island of the Blue Dolphins by Scott O'Dell
Little House in the Big Woods by Laura Ingalls Wilder
Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret by Judy Blume
Black Beauty by Anna Sewell
Misty of Chincoteague by Marguerite Henry
The Secret of the Old Clock (Nancy Drew, #1) by Carolyn Keene
The Yearling by Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings
Over Sea, Under Stone (The Dark Is Rising, #1) by Susan Cooper
Tom's Midnight Garden by Philippa Pearce

Have you tried her on Harry Potter yet? If she is a strong reader, that will be a good start for her too. My daughter is only 10 but she reads at a 13 year old level. So I know what a struggle it could be to find books that are in their reading level and also age appropriate. I also found a website that is a big help too. I'll locate it and get you the link.

my little one like the Magic Tree House series and a series about Fairies. And there's another series, or more of a collection since I don't think they are in any order, about dogs, I believe "Harry the Homeless Puppy" is one of them.
