Hey my name is Brenda, I am 39 yrs old. I have 5 kids, and have been married for almost 19 years. I am from NC. I am a convert to the LDS church. I love everyone and a the few friends I do have in Utah are inactive or are not LDS. I would love to meet you and get to know each other better. I was raised in the south and converted when I was older. I guess thats why my few friends tell me I am different. If you would like to be friends please email me @ bdbroberrtson@gmail.com

Hello Everyone/Anyone,

Everyone's post is older, but I am taking the chance to see if anyone will respond. My name is Naomi, I am 36. I am not LDS, but grew up in Ogden valley. Moved to Seattle when I was older. I had to move back due to some circumstances and so that I could go to Nursing school.

Well, I was doing just that and then last May I found out that I was pregnant, "biggest shock of my life". I am was not/am not married, did not have any children prior to this.

Well Emerson is a little over 4 months old, born 6 wks early. He is the best thing that has ever happened to me, but I have not returned back to school yet and I am stuck at home 24/7 and I need to make some changes, one being finding some friends/play dates whatever......Basically a life again, but with a beautiful baby boy. I am having a hard time with all the changes and now being so lonely. Is anyone out there that wants to get together to have coffee, workout, whatever. I live by 5 points towards N. Ogden. I can come to you or vise versa. Summer is coming and I would love some advice on being a 1st time parent.

The place I live has a great pool, so if we hit it off you can bring your kids and lounge by the pool this summer. One last huge thing, I am dying to get back into shape, I would LOVE someone to workout with, there is a gym here too, or we can do whatever.

Well, now that I have spilled my guts on this posting and have embarrassed myself, I wait and hope for a response.

You can also e-mail me at nsales2011@hotmail.com

Sincerely,

Naomi

Hi, I posted something a while ago but I live in Clinton which is very close to Ogden or Hill AFB. I would love a play date if anyone is interested? My children are 6 and 4 (in June). I feel exactly the same with the mormon issue. Since I am not mormon it seems that people shun me. But please let me know! Maybe we can figure something out?

I just moved here from Orange County, CA & I have had the exact same experiences since moving here in December. As soon as they find out I am not LDS, they are not interested in talking anymore. It's been really hard on me & more than anything my 5 year old son....it hurts me so much that this is effecting him as well. (Living in Springville)

I don't know where you live, but I'm in Kaysville .. non-lds, and I have a 5 year old boy and a 3 year old girl. If you feel like getting together, let me know!

It sounds like you moved into Provo Valley area, which is the most unfriendly place towards non-mormons or even to those who are mormon but are a little "loose," not "Nazi Mormons" who believe Caffeine and herbal teas are against the Word Of Wisdom.
Hope you have found friends. It is very difficult being someone who isn't the "norm" for the area. Good luck

Hi, my name is Tonya, 26yo and I live in Clinton, Utah. I am sorry but I never caught where you are from? I have 2 boys, Isaiah, 5 and Elijah, 3. I am originally from Virginia but ended up being stationed at Hill Air Force Base in 2001. I eventually got out of the Air Force and remained in Utah because of my husband working on base. I am also looking for friends. If you are interested in getting to know me that would be great. Just let me know. :)

I know it's been a while since you posted this, but I have a 4 year old and a 2 year old, and am an "older" mom. I'm always looking for non-lds friends that I may have more in common with and will allow my children to feel more connected as they grow up in a mostly Mormon community. I live in northern Utah, but am willing to travel as far as Ogden for periodic play dates.

I'm the membership coordinator for the Layton MOMS Club. We do have yearly dues but we are also part MOMS Club International, a non-profit group standing for Moms Offering Moms Support. It's $22/year and covers the cost of mailings, supplies for art days and kids in the kitchen and for party supplies and location rental because things like the halloween parties and family pot lucks are often too big for a members house. We have 2-3 activities a week including coffee club, playdates, outings, Home Improvement Moms, Firm your Fanny, and Mom's Night Out. We serve Layton and the surrounding areas. Non-members can attend 2 open events before they have to join. You can email us at laytonmoms@hotmail.com. I also belong to a mom's club that has no dues and is just a local group that was put together and I have to tell you, the Layton MOMS Club has many more activities at a variety of times and the mom's have been more welcoming and supportive. We've even been organizing sitter exchanges so that we can go out for date nights without the cost of a sitter. If you are interested, please email me so I can send you the info for the next open event. For safety and liability issues we can't send out a calendar but I'm happy to send open event info if anyone would like to check us out.

Hi Annie! My family and I moved to Utah from CA in 2000 and what a change it was. It took me a good year to adjust to life here. I am not LDS and I have some good friends that are. I think with any religion there is going to be some judgement on their end!! Just don't sweat the small stuff...LOL! Either they like you for who you are or they don't!

I do in-home daycare and a few of my children I care for are LDS and everything works for our families. I would love to meet you and your daughters =)

Have a great weekend!!

Hugs,
Malinda

Yes, we do have dues, but you can join for a 30 day free trial, and we also have sponser moms and dues exemptions for those that just cant pay so that everybody is able to join. All we ask is for our members to be active!!

I went to your site to check it out Marylynn, as I love meeting new people, but it says there are dues for the group. =( That is what steered me away from alot of groups. The group I'm on is totally free & has around 400 members, so, I guess I'll just stay w/ it. You could start a yahoo group w/ the same members. :D

Welcome to Utah! I moved here from Ohio 2 1/2 years ago. I live in a very LDS area in western West Jordan. I am not, but most have been wonderful to me, although, when they all start to talk about the church, I feel left out. LOL I have met many great, life long friends through my Mom's group, www.saltlakecitymommies.com It is a great, FREE group! I have many LDS & non LDS friends, young 20's to mid 40's. I'm 34 myself. I have a DS who will be 6 in a couple hours!!!!!!!! =) He is in 1st grade all day. I also have a DD who will be 5 in a couple weeks, but is home w/ me, since she's been in preschool for 2 years, & can't really learn much more before K.LOL

I encourage you to visit the site. =) I'm buckeyezrule on there. =) We do play groups, mom's nights out, couples nights out, family events, after school events, etc. =) I keep my sanity & get out w/ them alot. =)

Utah is a very beautiful, very kid friendly state. Lots of fun free stuff to do w/ kiddos too. =)

Hi, I've just moved to Ogden recently myself. I'm kind of shy so making friiends is difficult for me. I have two boys, ages 4 and 8, and I turn 36 in Nov. Maybe we can compare notes, while the children make friends?

I'm sorry Annie! That's too bad you haven't been welcomed to Utah as you should have been. I love meeting new people and can always use good friends. I have a toddler boys (they are such a handful!). It would be so fun to meet you. Where do you live? Maybe we could get the kids together to play.
