I was reading about "stork parking" in a different community and it reminded me of something that happened a few days ago.
I went grocery shopping with my son, and as I was driving around the parking lot looking for a decent space, I noticed a group of people get out of a van that was parked in one of the stork spaces. There were a total of four (seemingly) healthy adults in their late-twenties/early thirties, and one child (my guess would be about two years old). They got out of the van and went into the grocery store.
Seriously? Can you think of any logical reason why four adults cannot manage to walk an extra 50 yards with one child between them?
So back to my original question... how can some people be so inconsiderate? The purpose of the space is to allow parents of small children (and pregnant mothers) to park closer to the store's entrance for easier access.
I myself stopped using those spaces when my son was old enough to sit in the cart. Before that I had to lug his carseat with me and put it in a cart, which was a HUGE pain because those things can be pretty cumbersome. And even before he could sit in up in the cart, I never used one of those spaces if my husband was with me (I just made him carry the carseat, or he would bring a cart to the car).
What has happened to common courtesy? How about common sense?
What do you think?
