Avon Screwed Me Over

About 6 months ago, I decided I should try doing the Avon thing. I needed some kind of income, even something small, and since I've always loved Avon products... why not.

I went through the whole online registration/application thing, and the woman in charge in my area called me. She came to our house soon later and signed me up. I paid the $20 and did everything. She told me she'd call the following Friday or something like that.

Never happened.

She finally called me about a month later. By this point, I had already gone through angry and had almost forgotten about the whole ordeal. Her reason for taking so long to call was that I had told her I was going to a game. I don't know where she'd come up with that--the only person who's "game" I might go to is my brother, and hockey season hadn't quite started for him yet. So I did not tell her anything like that!

She came back to myself to refresh everything. Again, she told me she would call me to train me for the online stuff (that website is not laid out very well). And once again, the woman never called me back.

So yeah, Avon is not in my good books anymore.

Sorry the rep you worked with did not do a good job. Avon is a good company. You just have to be plugged into the right manager. I am NOT affiliated with Avon now. I was at one time. The one thing that I will warn you on is that they will "nickle and dime" you to death! Meaning, you have to purchase so much. Brochures every two weeks, bags, samples, etc. etc. If you decide to give it another try, just be leary of how you spend your earnings on basic necessities. Also be careful of ordering for people you don't know. Because of Avon's "pay after you get it" policy, I got burned alot with returns, too. Good luck with whatever you decide.

I too was burned by Avon.. they sent me a two hundred dollar order all thrown together in a big box. a bottle of bubble bath busted in transport and ruined all the boxes that the other stuff came in. I can't sell that stuff to customers!! they refused to take anything but the bubble bath back!!

I AM SORRY THAT HAPPENED TO YOU ARE YOU SURE THIS WOMAN ACTUALLY WAS AN AVON REP? IT IS POSSIBLE THAT SHE WAS NEW AND DIDN'T KNOW WHAT SHE WAS DOING. FIRST OF ALL $20 TO START IS TOO MUCH. IT IS ACTUALLY ONLY $10 AND IF SHE DID NOT FOLLOW UP WITH YOU THEN IT IS HER OWN FAULT. NOT ONLY DID SHE GIVE AVON A BAD REP BUT SHE GAVE YOU A BAD EXPERIENCE. AVON IS SPECIFICALLY A WOMAN TO WOMAN COMPANY AND ALL OF THE TRAINING THAT SHE WAS SUPPOSED TO GIVE YOU YOU CAN FIND IT ALL ON THE WEBSITE. AND ITS SO EASY IT EXPLAINS WHAT TO DO STEP BY STEP. YOUR AVON LEADER SHOULD HAVE UPDATED AND CALLED YOU AT LEAST EVERY TWO WEEKS. I SELL AVON AND LOVE IT!

Don't blame Avon for your managers neglect. if she is neglecting you then she is neglecting her business as well. Its not your fault she is a flake..its not Avon's fault either. contact avon and ask for help let them know your manager is a flake.

Hi Tristan,

Sorry to here that Avon was difficult, I have truly enjoyed it and wish you all the success in the world. Its great to enjoy making money and gaining another stream of income. If you ever want to offer your customers more than cosmetics, please reconsider the Avon opportunity.

I love their products and they have many more options like clothing, shoes, makeup , hair and nails, jewelry and the fragrances are nice. We also have a Mark line that offers more high end products for customers and now a children line. I can sell anything for the entire family and you can get more sells within one family. The mom, husband, children and pets because the Skin So Soft original line is get for pets as well and my doggie loves to be sprayed with it and it keeps her coat nice, soft and smelling fresh. Plus she is a cutie so she needs to feel like the sweet girl she is, Lol....

Do not give up on Avon, I am an Avon Unit Leader, Rep and Beauty Consultant as well as a Presidents Club member and in $200 a Honors Society member. The person who signed you up was horrible. Avon only charged $10 back them to sign up, now it is $15 as you get more.
As for Avon "nickel and diming you" ignore that, I have been selling for over a year and love it. The books, I always tell my reps to buy 6pks(which is 60books and they come in their own box) and it is only $16.09; if you don't use them all, use them for a book drop. As for the the bags they are FAR from expensive. I use the popcorn bags which are $-.95 for 50 small and $1.75 for 50 large. IF you ever become interested feel free to sign up online

Wow I cannot believe some of the things I'm reading. I've sold for years and especially since everything is online - training, returns, etc, I have no problem. If you are told ruined things won't be taken back there was a misunderstanding somewhere, maybe a non English speaking service agent. I have no problems with returns, especially is something is ruined/broken/used and not liked, etc. Avon always takes 100% back period. I can tell you there are bad customer service people, bad reps, bad managers. If something doesn't sound right to you ask someone else. As far as saturation, we have a few hundred here and I have no problem - I sell a lot and I make a lot. I also took/take and have my reps take all the online classes Avon has to offer. I also show them the ropes, in person, on the phone, on facebook, at events - wherever. like I said, something not right? get your answers somewhere else. Avon is not complicated at all. It's all very cut and dried. Sounds like some of you had run ins with the wrong person. I myself got burned with a pampered chef rep recently but I know it's not the company. Sometimes there are people out there with no business sense or values

I EXPLAINED TO HER THAT MY DAUGHTER PURCHASED ITEMS THAT WE NOT ON SALE, AND SHE WASNT AWARE THAT THEY WERE NOT 50 PERCENT OFF, BUT ALSO THAT NONE OF THEM FIT. SHE WAS SO RUDE, AND THAT HER ORDER FORM CLEARLY STATES NO RETURNS... REALLY? I EXPLAINED TO HER THEY DIDNT EVEN FIT, AND THAT MY DAUGHTER WAS OUT $100.00. AS OF TODAY NO RESPONSE.. We are the only distributor in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga and we are having issues with AVON!!! The regional manager is a waste of time and cant help us. Her phone is always off and the email address she gave me was wrong!!! We are going to stop selling AVON and supply Avroy Shlain!!!!!!!!!! The call centre of AVON is also useless. I wish someone would assist especially the fact that we aren't reps but an actual store.

I love to read the comments about people's experiences with Avon. I am a leader as well with Avon. I have been doing it for almost 4 years and I am having fun. I created a separate website to help get information out to my girls/guys in my downline. Everyone has stuff that happens to interrupt their life... maybe the reps mom landed in the hospital and she couldn't make her appt. Maybe her child got sick. I know that when you sign up you get an email with the Rep's name and phone number in it. : ) Sometimes we love to have the eager reps call us!! We sign up many who never do anything. We can train, email, visit, call and still nothing. Sometimes we can become jaded ourselves about signing people up. I love helping new people but I sometimes get discouraged too! Check out my site for my downline...it is very informative at AvonbyRhonda.biz maybe there is something there that can help you with your business. Good luck in all your endeavors!

Avon has a web portal that completely train you from start to finish and you have a District and county representative that assist in what ever you need. It was truly the representative and not the company. Its fun and the products are exciting and I am truly enjoying it and have been selling for three months! Its more about meeting people for me and getting to know others on a personal level and learning about them. I am a people person and a social butterfly so it works for me.

Please do not allow the Avon name to be slandered because of one person that was not effective at her personal business. Avon is always there for you and I would love to help you if you want to try again, I will be with you through every step of each process to help you provide for your family. I am a mother of two special need children with 14 reps and everyone of them speak to me on a weekly basis, receive personal emails and or calls...I ask how they wish to communicate and then that is how we communicate.

I truly enjoy selling Avon, it not about sales for me but teaching other how to fish to feed themselves as well as there families because this is what I needed to help my family with another stream of income. I love the products and order just as much as my customers, lol.

I am so very sorry on behalf of Avon representatives world wide, This is not how they train us and not how we wish to be seen, all the best to you and once again I would love to help you become the Avon representative that you originally wanted to be.

That's not necessarily Avon's fault, that's poor leadership. I did Avon for a few years and it did not work well for me. Too many reps out there for the customer base. I am loving Paparazzi. I have several facebook groups that I was invited to that are run by some of the top representatives of the company so there is endless support. They are awesome about making themselves available however you want to reach them, phone, email, online, etc.

I joined Mary Kay a month and a half ago and I am absolutely loving it!! I didn't realize how complicated Avon was and I am sorry you ladies had such a hard time with it. It seems a little hard to figure out with the differing commission amounts and so on! Mary Kay sells itself!! Everywhere I go I pull out my catalogue and the girls are telling me what they need. It's a one time start up fee of $100 which is a super cute bag with $400 worth of skin care and makeup and you earn 50% commission from your sales no matter who you are or how much you sell! In my first month I sold $2300 so that's $1150 in my pocket!! If you have any questions or are thinking about joining feel free to contact me.

Um, don't your companies have a hotline new consultants can call in the first 90 days for technical/policy questions? And don't you have weekly live training teleseminars for new consultants? Or even touring seminars for new consultants? Or an active Facebook group for all consultants plus state-specific groups where you can ask a question if you can't get a hold of your sponsor?

You'd think a company that takes 75% of the retail sale and is the top direct sales company in the world would provide more than just catalogs and a shopping cart.

Hello my namej is Terri. I just started Avon like 3 days ago. My problem is I went online and followed the directions that were given to start my avon website so people could order from it. Well so far everyone is saying that I can't be found. Did you have problems with this when you started?? Asid from that I already have 4 orders. Did you run into a problem with picking up the money when you dropped off the orders??

I thought about the Mia Bella Candles but not sure if I could actually do the parties and things not that. As far as AVON....yeah they screwed me over as well. I mean, I had been doing good sales and everything. As soon as I had some backorders, they started tripping. I mean, they weren't sending me my exchanges, returns, or backorder items. But they expected my customers to pay before getting their items and then when they stuff didn't come, I had to come out of my own pocket to give refunds. No thanks AVON!

Kayla,

I am sorry that you went through this. Avon didn't screw you over, the Avon Rep did. I am an Avon Rep, and I hate to hear stories like this. I am sorry that you didn't get the training that you paid for and so deserve. I wish you were in my area so my daughter and I could help you. We strive hard to provide proper training for our reps. Please don't be angry at Avon, but at the Rep. If you would like to give it another try please contact me.

Sorry that happened. I agree with Jackie, I just joined Mary Kay and love the products and it's easy money. Mary Kay pretty much sells it self. Being I just started I haven't made much, but I am enjoying the freedom of it and am in LOVE with all the products. You should look into Mary Kay. LEt me know if you have any questions, good luck and kharma will go around to that lady.
