Does anyone elses 10 month old hit, slap, pinch, etc. then laugh when you tell him/her "NO"?!

I have a HUGE scractch on my face from him grabbing and scratching me yesterday..my husband and I fussed him and told him NO and to STOP and that it is NOT NICE and I know he doesn't fully comprehend/understand yet but he just laughs at us and we are not laughing and we are very stern when we correct him...

Is this common in 10 month olds?

Thank you!

I have a 12 month old who had been doing this off and on.. I use the redirection along with just setting him down and hugging, if the redirection and just hugging him doesn't work then I just put him down on the floor { where he will scream and cry } but I just tell him that's not nice to do Whatever he was doing.. Yes I know they can't understand a 100%. but I do think they understand more then we think they can.. I have a 6 and 5 year old as well it worked with them and is working well with him as well.. He use to do it all the time, just to get our attention, we have been using this technique since he was 8 or 9 months old.. I love now that instead of hitting us he will walk up and hug our legs or if were sitting just hugs us, instead of hitting to get out attention..
It gets better and you know and understand your little one better then anyone and you know what will work best...
Hope this is helpful in some small way. Take care and best wishes...

Yes. Constant redirection is necessary.
