Our beautiful baby boy , 10 week old, won't nap longer than an hour during the day. Usually 45 minutes. And at night time it's very trying to put him to sleep. He'll sleep for 3 hrs at a time if I sleep next to him. We cosleep. I think he gets bad gas and overstimulated. What to do???

Thanks for the advice! I also have a forceful letdown which sucks for him. He sleeps well when he's on my chest and as soon as I put him down. He's awake in minutes. Everyone keeps asking if he's sleeping thru the night. I wish I could get 4 hrs. Poor thing!

Boy, I've been there. It's very, very frustrating, isn't it? Your instincts are probably good. My daughter had trouble sleeping because of gas problems. The best advice I can give is, make sure you really burp him well after he's done eating. Don't stop until you've got a nice loud belch! That definitely helped my daughter. As for the overstimulation, that's been an issue for both my girls. Try to keep lights and obnoxious noises down. I really love using a white noise machine to block out the sounds my husband makes (snoring or watching his iPad), because the girls tend to get disturbed by them otherwise.

Oh, one other thing about the gas. We co-sleep, too, and I discovered that when my daughter's tummy is really upset, putting her feet up on my legs (I lie on my side facing her and I elevate her feet so they rest on my thighs) really helps.
