My 10 yr old daughter likes to try and prove me wrong and loves it when I don't know the answer to a question. She actually will say things like "hugh, seems you would know that at your age". She won't admit when she does not understand or know facts on subjects way beyond her level.
These are not behaviors she learns in out home. My husband and a=I are very caring and supportive. Please help. I'm going batty :).

Thank you Chet. Yes, I have tried the first part of your answer and I often say "lets ask Mr. Google". I appreciate your time in writing helpful tips.

Try to place value on learning rather than knowing. Make it clear that nobody knows everything, people learn for their whole lives, and also demonstrate how to find answers.

I often admit I don't know things, and then immediately shift to figuring out where to find the answer. I'll look it up, or we'll go ask Daddy, or we'll call a relative, or I'll suggest which one of our other kids is likely to know the answer, or I'll try to puzzle the answer out. I'll give my best guess and why, and make it clear that my answer is only a guess.

Some kids are naturally very focused on right answers. Often this is made worse by competitive school environments. I think the major thing you do is set an example that there is no shame in not knowing, and demonstrating good skills for finding answers.
