My daughter is 10 weeks old. She sleeps like an angel at night in her own bed. She wakes only to eat and will immediately fall back to sleep. During the day however, is a different story. She will not nap unless I am holding her. I've tried putting her down when I see "sleep cues" but she immediately starts to cry and will not stop. I've tried rocking, singing, sushing but she will not stop until I pick her up. I've even tried letting her fall asleep in my arms and then laying her down but she wakes up and begins to cry after only a few minutes. The books I have read don't recommend the cry it out method until at least 6 months of age. My friends and family advised me to hold her while she naps and enjoy the snuggling while it lasts. While I love that idea I am afraid to spoil her. Will snuggling her during nap time hinder her ability to nap on her own in the future? Or is it true what the books say...that you can't spoil a child this young? I wear her in a Moby wrap in order to get things done while she naps but this doesnt always work. What else can I do? Help!

You can't spoil a tiny baby. The wrap is good because you bond with her and this is important at this stage. When she is older and feels more secure she should be less clingy. Is there anyone else who can hold her sometimes while you get stuff done? Having another person might get her used to not being with you every second. Or you could lie down next to her and then get up and leave her surrounded by pillows if that's safe for you.
