I am a nursing momma to a beautiful 11 month old girl. She nurses down to sleep. She wakes every 2 hours (or more) and has to nurse for a few minutes to go back down. We have tried sleep training for 3 weeks. One week we decided to drop 2 night feedings and just rock to sleep. That essentially failed. One week my husband went in a tried to soothe her, that completely pissed her off- that was a continuation of dropping 2 feedings. One week I would soothe her, lay her down and sit by her crib. That worked for 2 nights, then she caught on to what I was doing. I agreed with my husband to do 3 nights of letting her cry for no more than 1 hour to go to sleep and for her night wakings. I lasted 2 nights. Now I'm back to nursing. Somebody who has been in a similar situation.... HELP. I'm so tired!

It will probably wax and wane in frequency as she gets a little older. Maybe she is growing or teething right now and is waking more often. Hang in there, it doesn't last long and you'll have your night back.

I do enjoy nursing her down, it's just the number of times I'm up with her that's driving me crazy! Thanks for the suggestion, I do like the idea of not having to DO anything and just going with it.

I agree. I went thru this with all four of mine and it doesn't last forever. I'd scoop the baby up, nurse for a few minutes and put them back down. Secretly, I enjoyed it as it was the only time I had the baby (after my first) all to myself. Quiet and dark and cozy.
