i am in the process of adopting a new 11 year old boy. He is so disrespect for toward me and rude and defiance. Is there someone or some where to go to get assitance. I don't know if the adoption will ever be final. The child's social worker keeps putting off moving him, hoping that he will calm down. But he is not. No one is listening to me. The boy throws things, curses, yells, and is just disrespectful. Anyone, I need help, please.

I have a 23yr old son with Fragile X, he was diagonosed at age 3. e was put on Ritilan, but i didnt like the side effects, so I just dealt with them myself. When he got to be about 15 his Dr. put him on Ativan to calm his moods, now at 23 he has been very angry, sometimes hitting me or his big sister. So now Im gonna take him to a Neurologist where it all started! The Dr. that told me what he had was wonderful, insightful, helpful and he actually knew what he had but he needed to take a blood test first! Fragile X can be controlled with the right medication and the right Dr. Make sure any Dr. you take him to knows what Fragile X is!! There are so many things you can do with him by youself, it affects their social and motor skills so work on those. You can do anything, be strong, sometimes you'll cry, but everytime I still get a new breakthrough Im the luckiest mother in the world!!!

Look into RAD, or ODD, or other issues that come from abandonment or mistreatment issues.

I would talk to the social worker about having him assessed by a psychiatrist he could be suffering from Oppositional defiance disorder which children who have had inconsistent lives tend to develop. Or may just need therapy it is very hard to adopt children at this age and it takes amazing people like you to give these kids the love and stability that they need.
