12 week old breastfeeding more at night than daytime

My little guy seems to feed more at night rather than during the daytime. This is not optimal for me since I'm hoping he'll start to sleep longer than 2-3 hours soon (fingers crossed). I can tell I produce more at night and he's really slugging it down with the super wet diapers to show for it. During the day he'll go for much longer stretches between feeds (nurse, play and nap) and the feeds seem shorter, less taken in (diapers not sopping wet). Is this normal? Is there anything I can do to reverse this schedule in hopes of getting longer hours at night? I'm going to be returning to work only 2 days a week and wonder how that will impact everything as well. Thanks!

Definitely wake him up and feed him during the day! Don't let him go for more than a couple hours. Also, at night, make sure that while you are feeding him, the lights are off and it is quiet. His nights and days are a little mixed up, and you need to fix this. He might be grumpy for a few days with being woken up, but he'll adjust. Also, try to keep him awake a little longer between naps during the day. You don't want to let him have a two hour nap, feed him, and let him go back to sleep. Give him a bath or have some playtime with him. Take him for a walk Have fun!

He feeds about 4-5 times from the time he wakes up to the start of bedtime. He has such sleep problems that I don't know if I should wake him up to feed. I thought sleep begets more sleep.

How often does he nurse during the day? You can try feeding him every 2 hours during the day (assuming he nurses less than that now) even if you have to wake him to feed. That might 'fill his tank' a bit to help him sleep better at night.

Really depends on the kid though. You might just have to wait it out.
