My X husband has had full custody of my 12 year old grandson for 8 years. He was diagnosed with Hirschprung's Disease which in short is a disease of the colon and bowel. He had major surgery in which they removed 2 feet of colon and part of his bowel. He had to have a colostomy bag which since has been removed and he is healing very well. For most of the 6th grade he was in the hospital and stat provided home school. Since he has been cleared and doing well the doctor said he could return to school. Now at least once a week he complains of not feeling well and does not want to attend school. Or once we get him to go the school will call telling us he is not feeling well and needs to be picked up. He is very bright and well liked by fellow students as far as we can tell. He is very verbal and if someone was bullying him he would I am almost 100% sure let us know. He spends most of his free time on the computer and kids will call frequently to chat although he doesn't often get out to play since we live in a large apartment complex. He does have 2 friends in the building. We finally have decided to take him to a child Psychiatrist to see what we can do. Before he was diagnosed he was an A-B student, now he is on the verge of failing the 7th grade. I decided to move back in thinking I may be of some help since my X husband was recovering from stomach cancer and very week. This has just brought a lot of stress to all of us and was just wondering if anyone has gone through anything similar and could give me some advice

Given all the medical stuff he has recently gone through... counseling is an excellent idea.
