Hi, I'm Swiss Italian and live in Switzerland. This is the first time I post here. My 14-month old girl is very smart and lively. She's doing very well with her walking skills, she started to walk on her 1st birthday, she understands all that we say to her and can distinguish lots of objects, animals, people, etc..She can gesture and communicate non verbally, but she hasn't said a clear word yet, apart from mamma and papa (mom and dad), gnam gnam (yummy yummy) when she's hungry, a few animals' sounds (dog, cow, bird) and palla (ball). We read together lots of books for small children and she enjoys that, I try to say the name of things, animals, food etc very clearly and talk to her a lot.She sees other children quite often (I take her to a playgroup once a week) and she often meets her little cousins aged 3 and 5 who can talk very clearly (our language is Italian). I think she gets lots of inputs. Am I worrying uselessly? Excuse my English, as I mentioned I'm Swiss Italian.

I agree with the other Sarah, she is right on target. You will be amazed at how quickly she learns to put words into phrases and phrases into sentences.

She is being a normal 14 month old. Her language will increase dramatically over the Next year. She is right where other 14 month olds are.
