So about a month ago my daughter who is 14 months started waking up crying and screaming every morning and doesn't stop until I go in there. It usually takes a few minutes to get her calmed down and get herself back together. The weird thing is, if she wakes up in the morning with a souled diaper she doesn't cry and will play in her crib happily lol. Does anyone know why she might be doing this or have any of you experienced this before?

Thanks for the help! Well, my husband does watch tv at night while she is still awake and I'm at work...I'm going to talk to him and make sure there is nothing that seems to be scaring her.

Don't think there is much else you can do but give a cuddle and calm her down. Unless you can think of anything that could trigger it. My son loves watching toy story but gets upset when the bad teddy in number 3 shows up. I found he'd tend to have nightmares if he'd watch it too much. So I've limited when and how often he watches it. Could be the simplest thing.

Yeah nightmares are what I was thinking too, just thought I'd see what other moms thoughts were. I understand the sensation of having to go wakes her up, and I guess that is waking her up before the nightmare does.

Have you ever experienced toddlers having nightmares and if so how did you handle it? Not sure if there is anything else I should be doing besides calming her down

more than likely she wakes up screaming because of a nightmare maybe a reaccuring one. And the other times she wakes up because she has soiled her nappy. The sensation of going or needing to go wakes her up.
