I took my daughter Michelle to the Dr. today and she told the dr. she isn't motivated at all to go to school. Michelle wants to graduate and go to college but doesn't like school. We found out after talking with her that she does not comprehend what she is reading (as I already knew this) and that her mind wonders away from the subject at hand because its boring. I do get that but I struggle with her every morning to get her up and going. We went to the school and talked with her counselor and she gave us a couple of suggestions. Does anyone "Moms" have anything they want to give me to help my child achieve and cope better? Thanks, Tamara

As far as motivation goes... what does she want to do w/ her life to make money and survive on her own? Perhaps talking w/ her about that and helping her outline the steps she needs to achieve that goal will help motivate her.

If she's not understanding the material maybe a tutor would help. If she has a learning disability arrangements may be needed in the school to modify her requirements (like giving her extra time to complete assignments, so she can work on them w/ the tutor).
