Okay I took my son to the dr on tuesday, they stated he was very constipated and to give him an ennema that day and the next day. Well neither one worked all I got was a clear yellow liquid no poop. Today they tell me to give him a capful of miralax every hr for the next 4 hrs. Well all I'm getting is clear liquid. Nurse tells me it could take another day for something to come out. I feel like I'm just getting pushed around and no one is taking me seriously. Should I take him to the er or wait it out.

There is something called "ostipation" not sure of the spelling, but my son had it recently. It is where the poop builds up, like constipation, but liquid can still come out. He actually had this, and was having accidents....which is really unlike him. He is almost 5. But the poop builds up, liquid comes out, and you do need to use a miralax or something to help soften it....but man when he went...wowza! He does get prunes almost daily, and that really helps on any sort of constipation issues...the boy loves his prunes though, always has.

The last time he actually pooped was Monday. We have done 4 supositores, 3 ennemas and mirlax. I would have thought he would blow up by now. These nurses just keep telling me to wait but I don't want this to back up into his stomach or worse.

When was the last time your son pooped? If it has been more than 4 days and this is not normal for him then take him to the er. This clear liquid does not sound right to me after this much intervention. Press gently on his tummy and look for signs of discomfort. His stomach should feel soft to touch and not hard or distended. I think I would go to the er personally if you have no joy.

You do need to give the miralax some tie to work. In the mean time, please be giving plenty of water, pears, and prunes. Watch out for bananas, milk products, and other constipating foods like crackers
