My baby boy turned 16 weeks today and I'm not exaggerating when I say he wakes every hour from 8pm when I put him down to sleep for the night. He cries when he wakes and settles once I carry him and walk around. However when it is past midnight and I am in bed myself, I am too tired to continue carrying him and walking, so embarrassingly I resort to giving him my breast and he suckles for 3 minutes andfalls asleep so I think he isn't actually hungry and just wants comfort. However, when I put him back down to sleep, he starts crying in 15 minutes and the whole night just cycles around this theme.
In the day, he can never sleep more than an hour but it appears better because I lie him on his tummy (supervised) and he seems to prefer that. All my friends' babies of similar age can sleep at least 4-5 hours in a row; what am I doing wrong?
He used to be able to sleep 3 hours stretches but has stopped doing that for almost 2 weeks. Hourly wakings are really tough.
I'm a fully breastfeeding mother and I think I still can't tell from his cries whether he is hungry or not. ARGH what a failure first time mum :(
Please help, any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much!
