I am so betrayed and hurt. My 16 yr old, whom I argue a lot with, decided to move in with her dad. He is gloating and being verbally abusive to me. He (and her) told me they wanted her bedroom furniture. I put my foot down and said 'no'. I am not going to be controlled (where the hell is she going to sleep when she sleeps over?!) I am also trying to go to counseling with her. She is already seeing a therapist and when she is ready I want to go in with her. I feel like everything she says is her father's voice, not her own. My ex is also threatening now that she is out and my oldest is in college to sell the house. For crap sake, then I will be homeless! I can't handle any more bad news and I love and miss her so much.

thank you Sarah. I am getting my friend who is a lawyer to look my divorce decree over. Even though he is an injury attorney, he know about general law.
The reason why I didn't want her to have her bed is because right now she thinks she (and her dad) can control everything. I guess I felt as though since he is there, he should provide the furniture, as she won't have a place to sleep when she visits.

Do you have specifics in your divorce decree about possession and sale of the marital home? Why did your 16 yo get to decide to move out? Or was it a mutual decision? If you agreed to let her dad be her primary home, isn't it fair to let her have her bed? Is there furniture at dad's house? Do you have a custodial arrangement that is supported by the court or did you all work it out on your own?

I feel your pain, the first thing I would do is fine a good attorney and listen to what they have to say and do it... I think your ex is trying to scare you and at the same time he has the big head since your daughter has moved in with him.. Don't worry she will be back she is just mad at you and she is acting out don't let her see you sweat act real relaxed about the situation and please don't give your ex her furniture if he wants her he should get his own furniture but he should already have that..Why does he want yours... I hope everything works out...
