Well it doesn't sound like he's sleeping that much during the day, which is good if you're trying to change his sleeping habits at night. Have you tried to let him cry it out? Especially if you know that there's nothing wrong. Try to have a set bedtime for him. Bathe and feed him, and put him in his bed at a specific time and just let him cry himself to sleep. My mom told me to do this with my first daughter at about 10 months because she was so spoiled and didn't want to sleep. I tried this and even though it was supper hard, it worked. I put her in her bed at around 8 or so, had her nightlight on and cracked her room door. She cried and cried and cried even more until she got tired and fell asleep. I didn't go into her room while she was crying because it hurt me and her lol...I just would peek in and make sure that she was okay.... She did this for a couple of days and finally stopped crying. It got to a point where she knew that it was time to go to sleep, so she did...every night!!! Try this!!...Again it's going to be hard at first but DONT BULGE!!! He is okay....just peek and make sure he's okay....

How is his schedule during the day? Does he sleep all day, have frequent naps? If so, I would say to keep him up all day or as long as you can so at night he could rest long and well. If he is too sleepy during the day, let him take maybe one nap but wake him up if it's too long. This is what I had to do to my daughter when she was an infant, and it worked well. This trained her body to not be sleepy during the day but at night. She may have taken a cat nap (or two) during the day but was up for the most part. It may not happen overnight, but it will happen sooner than you think.
