My son won't stop throwing things from toys to food. I usually tell him no a few times and slap his hand. I try telling him what he's doing is wrong and he's going to hurt someone, I put him in timeout. Is it something that will pass? I feel like I'm doing something wrong because he's acting out so much. I appreciate any feed back. Thank you!

If he throws food, take it away cuz he's done.

If he's throwing toys and stuff. Take away what he's throwing and tell him that's not for throwing. Then take him somewhere he CAN throw things (outside, his room, whatever) and give him a ball that he CAN throw.

It's a phase. He'll outgrow it, but some understanding and finding him an acceptable outlet will go a long way in 'curing' the phase.

Don't give him any "warnings". That was my mistake, and once I stopped that my son was less confused I guess, and stopped throwing things. If he knows not to throw the car, and then he throws the car, don't tell him "if you do that again...", just put it away immediately, telling him, "Cars are not for throwing, just balls are for throwing." If he threw food, mealtime was over. (or he had to wait a few minutes before I'd ask if he wanted to try again.)

Thanks. Yea I've been trying to show him balls are for throwing not other toys. I'm glad to hear its just a phase because my parents and my in laws are making me feel like I'm doing a horrible job.
