Hi moms! I have a 17 year old son. He will be 18 in February. I am very emotional about so many things, like most moms. Here is the thing, as he approaches his 18th birthday, he seems to be getting more disrespectful than the usual bratty teen stuff, and doesn't want to listen to rules anymore. Curfew means nothing, he doesn't seem to care if things get taken from him, doesn't want to go to school or work. He is enrolled in school (grade 12) and is going everyday but complains and threatens to quit. He quit his part time job that he had over the summer. It's not drugs. We checked. His girlfriend is nice enough and we get along. Another weird thing is the he will not go and get his drivers license. My husband thinks that he is "rebelling" against the new responsibilities that we are trying to give him. My question is, what rules do you have in place for your teenaged sons? If you have a curfew, what time? Are there chores involved? Does your kid get an allowance? Please help. Thanks.
