Should I tell my daughter that while she lives under my roof then she abides by my rules

I think at 18, those are more than reasonable. I suppose, some moms may feel that since she is an adult, you should treat her like an adult. I am more of the "My house, my rules" school of thought.

She is the youngest of 4 and works full time, all I ask of her is that she keeps her room tidy and follow a cleaning rota that everyone else follows, I also exPect if she is going out that she lets me know if she is staying out, I said this needs to said to me before I go to bed and that if she doesn't speak to me and let me know then she must come home, this rule came about due to her staying out without telling me and returning the next day at anytime she felt

I think it widely depends on the child and the rules. Do you have other kids at home? Is she done with school? I have an 18 yo son, he is our eldest of 4 and a senior in high school. For the most part he is expected to follow the house rules. He does have some privileges and freedom that the younger kids don't have, but ultimately I feel if it is your house, than it's your rules..
