My baby girl is 18 months old and has been holding her poop in, I know she isn't constipated. She drinks water, and eats all her veggies. She seems to be scared of pushing it out because of past problems (hospital literally pulled her poop out). Glyscorin(sp?) spository's do not work on her. Please help! I have heard things about miralax and was wondering if anyone has went through this and what they did to help.

Thank you for your response Louise. What do you know about Miralax? I have read many reviews about parents using this medicine for extended periods of time, just in small doses. Thanks again!

You can buy a natural laxative that is safe to use on a child of this age called Lactulose which is the sugar found in milk. It is in liquid form and not unplesant to take. It is gentle on the stomach and does not cause any stomach cramps. In the UK it is also given to people that have had surgery to help them use the toilet. As I say it is a natural product and will do her no harm at all. I used this with my little one when changing milk formulas on the reccomendation of the midwife. I have used it myself after a C section and my husband has used it after a hernia op.

You dont want to be giving her artificial bowel stimulents at her age. Make sure she drinks lots of fluid, this will help make the poop softer. My advice is get a bottle of Laculose very cheap and available at any chemist.
